Rak could absolutely succeed in the NBA if he works on his shot selection, 15 footers and kicking the ball back out.

He is gonna be drafted. Prob in the second round (Mid to Late)

So, That would make him an NBA player.
Most late second round picks don't make the rosters, so they are not NBA players. I like Rak as much as anybody in Onondaga County, but come on, he's just not an NBA player and he will never make a roster.

I agree with Trueblue. Rak will be drafted on potential but I doubt anything comes of that. Hope I'm wrong.

Potential? Nba potential? Rak doesn't have that. It's not a slight on him but he's not a league guy

His size and athleticism, is that better?

Rak is a good college player, and will have a fine pro career if he wants. It just won't be in the NBA. He's not quite big enough, not quite quick enough, has no NBA shot or handle. It's a whole big world out there.

I agree with you guys!! I still think he'll be drafted late in the 2nd.

I try and nice it up because if you say anything negative about a player you get attacked.

Peace. A lot of posters here don't like the truth told to them. They'll even put you on ignore to avoid hearing it. Happy T-Day!

plenty of guys in the league with less talent than him. Quincy Acie, anyone? Almost every team has one...

That is a good point. If Henry Sims can play for the 76ers then why can't Rak. All I'm saying is there are similar players to Rak that are 2-3 years younger, and that's much more attractive. If Rak were a soph right now, he could be a late first. Not as an undersized center with limited offensive skills who is 23 years old.

I love Rak, and I'm pretty confident in saying few people have been more on the Rak bandwagon on this board than I have - but yeah, the whole "drafted based on potential" thing is a little ludicrous. If you haven't shown that potential before your senior year, is the potential actually there?

He's athletic, but undersized. He's got decent skills, but he's certainly not a world beater. He would have to play the power forward spot in the NBA, and he just doesn't have the skill set to do it. He MIGHT latch on somewhere as a third string big man, but that's about the peak he can probably expect as far as the NBA goes.

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm pretty confident I'm right. And again - I love Rak. I've been bullish on him since his high school days. But he's certainly not big enough or talented enough to get drafted on potential alone. College seniors simply do not get drafted on "potential." They've already basically maxed out as far as NBA scouts are concerned.

Pretty fair

Rak is an undersized 4 who's already slower than most 4's and his range is really, really awful for the NBA. He may hover in the D-League for a few years and he could try to mold himself into a D specialist but he's not getting a cup of coffee any other way in the NBA

Jek I agree 100%, and Rak can go play a long, lucrative career somewhere in Europe for half the year. He seems like a smart enough kid (working on a masters degree already) to not tick it away after two years.

Where college players go to die . . . . . .

I think CMac will be more ready than TE. I still think TE made a big mistake. He never looked like a NBA player in my opinion. I never thought TE was a one-and-done player. One and done is great. But that phrase should only apply to college not the NBA. Take Kris Joseph for example. I thought KJoe was a terrific college player. When he went to the NBA he really bulked up on the muscles. I thought holy cow nothing will stop him. He turned out to be a below average NBA player. I think TE will have a tough time getting out of the D-leagues. He really needed one more year in college. The big dollar contract would have been there this year also. He probably would have gone higher up in the draft. I don't believe in the what-if-he-got-hurt argument. He could also get hurt in the D-league. The problem TE is going to have now is a marketing one. Now that he's in the d-league he will have to work much harder to get noticed.

CMac on the hand I think will be a terrific NBA player from the get-go. He reminds me a lot of Carmelo Anthony as a freshmen. I am pretty sure CMac is gone after this season. This will open up a scholarship for Bryant.

The intriguing thing is that Roc has shown progress every year. How far that might go is why the NBA will draft him.

If Roc has a John Wallace type senior year is the only way I see him getting drafted. The Orange would have to at least make it to the final four. That's a pretty tall order for this team. But in strange ways this team resembles the 2002-2003 team. Maybe CMac is not as good as Anthony and maybe KJ2 is not as good as GMac but this team has a lot decent players who could contribute at the end of the season. What was amazing about the 2002-2003 run is every game leading up to the final game it seemed like some secondary player would step up and have a career game. This could be that kind of year.
