2013 Rankings

Scouthoops final top 100
22)Ennis
55)Roberson
89)BJ

They have Jermaine "Angel Soft" Lawrence at 19 smh. Dunno how you can miss the whole year and stay in the top 20, while a player like Roberson dominates a strong league and drops in the rankingsView attachment 3549.
Agreed, it is ridiculous. Have these "experts" ever explained how they rank the players? Is it based on pro potential or their current skill level?

They say it's a mixture of both but they tend to weigh in on pro potential more imo.

They must not watch basketball.

Brian Snow wrote the following on BJ.

Every year there are players in the back end of the top 100 or even not ranked that have a big impact right away and during their career for their respective teams. Here is a look at five who could surprise from the class of 2013.

"Kids who typically exceed their ranking or surprise are ones who get better late and have a lot of untapped potential, and someone who fits that bill is Syracuse pledge B.J. Johnson. At nearly 6-foot-7 with long arms, high level athleticism, and a nice looking perimeter jumper, Johnson is a player who had a breakout summer before his senior year, and then continued his strong play during the season.
Johnson worked his way into the top 100, but still he isn’t talked about much as someone who will have a big impact on a loaded Syracuse roster. While his production might be limited as a freshman as Johnson continues to develop and earn playing time, by the time he is a junior or senior he could be someone putting up big time numbers in the Syracuse system"

Rankings mean nothing. They throw crap at a wall and hope it sticks.
I believe an average kid in the right scenario. playing for the right team, at the right time, can be great. On the other hand, a gifted kid, playing for the wrong team, at the wrong time looks like a bust. Take all rankings in perspective as they are just that. Noel, even though he was injured and din't show alot will end up being the #1 pick in the NBA. Go figure. Why? Potential. That is what these ranking mean, potential, not crap at a wall, and all of these young men deserve better than that.

The ranking system is throwingcrap at a wall. Just an opinion.

Clearly, neither. :)
