2013 Rankings

Posted this on the Ennis thread...was at the Derby City Classic a couple of weeks ago and Ennis was clearly the superior player of the two (Ennis and Jordan). They matched up in the second half and Jordan had no answer for Tyler.

This is simply not true. Rysheed barely tried to score at all in that game. Jordan had 9 assists in 18 minutes which is massive. It is rarely done in an All Star game, where a kid doesn't try to take over and score. Jordan only took I think 2 shots in the second half, so I'm not sure what answer you are talking about in their matchup. To say he had no answer is not exactly correct.

That said, I love Ennis' game. Kid is as cerebral as they come and will be ready to go right away for Cuse. Both are different types of players though. They'll be matching up for real next season.

black Jesus is Charmin soft, and I don't think he likes competition.

Hey, all the best with Rysheed this year. He is a talent....
as is this guy

You guys are batting .166. Wouldn't even make Dave Kingman proud.
:)

Seriously, Rysheed can score, but as we need a point guard that can lead a team his first year on campus, I think we have the right guy in place. Not saying that I wouldn't want Jordan, but we're pretty stocked up here.

Good luck next year against Cuse.
You'll need it.

He could be the next Marcus Hatten.

Yup. He's a journeyman. All over the world. Just not this country!
2003 Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski (Poland)
2003–2004 UB La Palma (Spain 2nd)
2004–2005 Bnei HaSharon (Israel)
2005 Guaros de Lara (Venezuela)
2005–2006 Hapoel Tel Aviv (Israel)
2006–2007 Ironi Ashkelon (Israel)
2007–2008 Scafati Basket (Italy)
2008–2009 New Basket Brindisi (Italy 2nd)
2009–2010 Assigeco Casalpusterlengo (Italy 2nd)
2011 Belfius Mons-Hainaut (Belgium)
2011–present Kolossos Rodou (Greece)

Probably speaks a ton of languages though.

He won a NIT ship! That could definitely be in St Johns plans next year.

You're saying that a kid that is ranked in the top 25 for players coming in next season is not going to try to dominate an All-Star game? Especially against a player who is highly touted at the same position? Most of Jordan's assists were late and on open breaks. I'm not saying Jordan is a bad player. All of the guards in that game took their shots except Jordan.

Yeah, Ish is quality, but he better speed things up on the next level from what I've seen.
But I meant all swing and misses for the Johnnies.

True. :)

He knows I'm just egging him on. Point is, I would never go onto some other team's site just to start trouble.
One can argue he's not trolling and is civil, but in the end, it's all to create a stir, albeit indirectly.

Now, I'm always nice to people from other teams that want to discuss and commend each other's respective teams, like HakWarrick1 and both of those fans from Cal and Montana. They were discussing. I'm sure we get a slightly different vibe from these conversations and there's a reason they always end in 'Ok, I'll leave'.

Difference is that you were at the game and had a first hand view of how things went. While our SJU buddy is most likely boxscore scouting with his reply to you, unless I'm wrong and he was actually at the game as well?

Nah, you're first guess is better. ;)
The same guy who said Lawrence will be better than Robertson.
He must be knowledgeable of recruits. Especially the ones who's names he can't even spell!
LOL

I saw the game on the Internet feed. Unless you're saying the view wasn't good enough on the broadcast? I'm just refuting that he was "handled" by Ennis, which is not true at all if you watched the game. Jordan didn't push his scoring at all, and he can really score. He was thwarted on zero of his shot attempts by Ennis. He just dished the rock like a PG is supposed to. I'm not trolling here to cause trouble. Some people just need to be set straight.

As far as our swings and misses, well all schools have them. Cuse has them too. Lavin has landed really good classes including the past two Big East Rookie of the years in a row. Looks like we are hitting on a few too. Oh, and I don't think I ever said Lawrence will be better than Robertson. Not sure where you're getting that from?

Like I said, Tyler Ennis is excellent. I'm impressed with everything about him except his lack of athleticism. He makes up for it in every other way though. Good luck.

All good, and spoken like a gentleman.

But let me just refresh your memory.
Lawrence is a better player than Robertson. I have no doubts.

I guess I did. Don't remember doing so. Well I hope I was wrong. ;-). Still think Lawrence is excellent. Made a dumb choice playing in that disaster of a league. SJU kinda lucked out anyway by getting Orlando Sanchez eligible this season with the spot that Lawrence would have taken. Sanchez offers SJU a lot more this season than a young Lawrence would have.

As far as Rysheed vs Ennis and who is better? I have no idea. Was just commenting that their matchup in the Derby Classic was being misrepresented.

Lawrence has some great upside and I like that he's a decent passer for a big man.
That said, I do agree that picking Cincy wasn't a great fit but for a different reason. He's not the most physical guy in the world and that doesn't really fall in line with Cincy's game.
Whereas, our choice. Beast-like really.

I am no expert, but Lawrence strikes me as a super talented young man that lacks the fire to become great.

I really dont know at this point. He is mega talented. Not sure if it is lack of fire or injuries? He's got a great handle for a guy his size and lots of moves. SJU only had one scholarship any way. It went to Rysheed who IMO we needed MUCH more than Lawrence. SJU desperately needed a talented floor general. Part of our biggest problem this season was too much Phil Greene at the PG spot. He's a kid that I like, but more as a backup combo-guard type. We have Jamal Branch too, who was playing well and then got injured. It hurt us to only get him for Big East play and then lose him to knee sprain. Rysheed is exactly what we need, and should help Harrison as well.

SJU petitioned the NCAA for Orlando Sanchez' eligibility and got it, so I don't think we will miss Lawrence much this year. Sanchez is big and physically much more mature and polished. More ready to contribute.

Scouthoops final top 100
22)Ennis
55)Roberson
89)BJ

They have Jermaine "Angel Soft" Lawrence at 19 smh. Dunno how you can miss the whole year and stay in the top 20, while a player like Roberson dominates a strong league and drops in the rankingswtf2.png.
