2016-17 Coaching Carousel

Is Taggart USF to Oregon the longest distance change for a coaching move? (not counting Hawaii job).

Anyone ever go to/from Washington to Miami?

I know Leach was living in Key West when he moved to Pullman, but wasn't coaching there.

How far is Hawaii to SMU? June Jones?

Edit: Sorry you AREN'T counting Hawaii job.

Didn't Erickson go from Washington St to Miami and then back to Oregon St? That's quite the move

Yep, he wins the prize. By 8 miles (thanks google maps). Pullman to Miami.

He went from Miami to the Seahawks, but I was thinking more college because of the regional nature of recruiting.

Wow. A season and a half ago he was on the hot seat. The coaching biz is flat out insane.

Yep it all turned around when a team from Central New York went down there and got smacked last year. You're welcome Coach Taggert!

That weasel will clean up recruiting the state of Florida for USF. I hope he goes to Houston, we don't get recruits from the state of Texas anyway

I think Houston is a better job. That said, somebody has to give Major Applewhite a shot here shortly, I would imagine.

oh, definitely. Just a matter of if Houston wants to hire him I would think . The guy can recruit, but at his previous HC jobs was pretty much a tool all around. Arrogant, even by college football coach standards. Will be interesting to see if he has matured at all. Probably not.

He should send flowers to FHCSS and that DB who got the late hit which extended their game winning drive vs us 2 years ago

I hope he:
A. Uses a rapid-fire offense like the Orygun fans have come to expect.
B. Can recruit a QB to run that offense.
C. Can find a DC that can stop the other team from scoring at least every other series.

Otherwise, he's a dead man walking.

Having witnessed two debacles against them, you can absolutely check the top 2 boxes.

Boy I remember following the carousel religiously last year.

Also by this time last year we had Babers locked up.

Two thoughts:

1. I suspect Taggart is going to have a more difficult time recruiting at Oregon. Looking at the USF roster, there are only a handful of who are NOT from Florida, where even after the big school siphon off the top players, there is still a wealth of in-state talent.
2. Looking at the leading candidates to replace Taggart, after suppressing the urge to vomit, I am really glad we landed Babers.
