Doubletalk by Giradi in post game presser.

Outright lie. Sanchez told him. Joe even looked at Sanchez and put up 1 finger saying just a minute.

What's he saying?

That nothing said he wasn't hit and by the time they got the slow mo it was past the 30 seconds allowed to protest a call. He lied.

Idiot.

He literally lost the game for the Yankees. Indefensible.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he did not challenge the Lonnie Chisenhall hit batsman in the 6th because the Yankees didn't have enough time to see the proper replay and he didn't want to throw off Chad Green's rhythm.

HIS RHYTHM LOL

Didn’t have any evidence he’d been hit until too late, didn’t want to break pitchers rhythm by challenging, no answer to ignoring Sanchez. Lame response to pulling CC. Yankee-paid analysts all over him.

That's another point- pulling CC.

He didn't need the replay. His catcher told him. Should have triggered an immediate challenge.

The most epic fail by a manager in history. There is no excuse. The only detcision to be made now is whether to fire him in the morning or after the season. And I've always liked Joe. But a manager can't make that kind of mistake.

His contract is up after this year. I hope he gets let go tonight, but I can live with them simply not retaining him after the season ends on Sunday or Monday. No freaking chance this goes 5.

Sanchez told them to do it. But Joe hates Sanchez, so...

That's BS. At this level, everyone's in it to win it. So even if you're right about Joe and Gary, it don't mean schitt in that situation.

Let's just get wins from Tanaka and Sevy first, and worry about who manages Game 5 on Wednesday.

Yeah, Girardi can be accused of blowing this one. It's over. We had what, 36 outs to make a different outcome? We didn't. So, we move on.

the thing about it is if you challenge and lose..big deal. you just lose the challenge. after the 7th inning , you can ask the umpire to review a play even if you are out of challenges and they almost always say yes anyway.

So the "big" risk was losing the ability to challenge for one inning

Not only his catcher, but does anyone remember the last time a player got hit on the hand and didn’t experience any kind of pain? Unless it was Roy Munson and the rubber hand.

Should have been huge red flags to review.

He needs to tell the team to relax and have fun now and tell them no matter what happens all the blame is on him. Help take the pressure off. Although with his lack of accountability in the postgame comments, who knows what goes thru that mind.

No, screw him. This is one of the worst manager chokes ever... And that was before they even hit the grandslam. If Lindor pops out, it still is.

The fact he didn't review it is completely indefensible and a fireable act. I'm not usually one to freak over the small things that happen in games like taking pitchers out, etc... But this? Girardi lost the game. Period.

Historically bad.

I like Girardi a lot, feel he has done a good job throughout his tenure as manager and think he is a good fit to manage this young team. But for a guy who was calling for reviews late in a meaningless Game 162, this error of omission in that spot is inexplicable and perhaps inexcusable. Had the Boss witnessed that, he would have fired him in-game.
