I can't really argue with anything you say here but somehow it's really messed up to have a sport being played where the logic is the fan has as much right to the ball as the player. That's crazy to me.

I honestly don’t think the call was that controversial. There is no shot Mookie was over the wall. The photos show me how was straight up and not Tilted over the wall where fans could grab the ball.
I think those hands of Astros fans were over the wall.

I believe they did but a security guard leaned over the fence to get a look and blocked the camera's view.

This shot shows Mookie wasn’t over the line of the fence.
The guy in white was over the fence.
The ball would have been a HR but these fans interfered with Mookie .

and as was clear last night the ball did hit the wall. dont they have slow mo. the side angle was even more obvious

Not that it matters anymore, but I still don't see the ball hitting the scoreboard even in slo-mo. It looks like he simply catches the ball and his glove is hitting the scoreboard. Moot point now but I can definitely understand why they wouldn't overturn the call based on that.

it was real obvious in the side view but they never really showed that much.. i slowed it down on my DVR and you could easily see it. the sound was the give away a glove moving a few ft per sec wont cause that sound and the ball hit the pocket not the webbing

I think both sides are right here and ultimately I think Altuve being out is right. I understand that it’s hard to tell how far the fans reached out but there’s not a doubt in my mind Mookie catches that ball if the fans’ hands don’t close his glove on him. Just watch his eyes while he’s going up because he had it tracked the entire way. If I was a Houston fan I’d be angry because Cowboy West decided to call it an out on the field and there wasn’t anything definitive to show the right angle (other than the view that got blocked by the security guard who will surely be re-assigned tonight).
