2018 Boston Red Sox Thread

Geez, enough already. Thirteen innings, collectively 0-5 w/RISP.

Yeah Dodgers fans Nunez is stalling in a game the Red Sox literally only have Sale and Pomeratz on the bench.

Oh, I think he's hot dogging just a little, but he'll play. :)

And then he head butts Porcello, because ... Nunez.

But that idiot Dodger catcher deserved to be tossed. You don't get to dive into the batter's knees just because the ball is loose. He was in in the batter's box, FCOL. You go around him, not through.

He has a bad knee. He isn’t faking an injury. The guy is getting surgery as soon as the season is over. He wasn’t faking it.
In a 5 hour game he wouldn’t stall.

Sale is going to pitch game 4. None of their pitchers have been overextended.
Both Jansen and Biaz have gone 2 innings.
Boston will be fine pitching wise.
These bats are dead both ways.

I disagree. You can use starters as relievers, but not as much as the Sox are doing, and they are forcing themselves to have to play more of a bullpen game in game 4 and game 5 now..

That being said if they go up 3-0 it was all worth it.

As a baseball fan, I would love to see the Dodgers tie it just to see more baseball tongiht

I’m old enough to remember when Rick Porcello pitched in this game and was taken out after 65 pitches.

We'll see. The Dodgers are throwing Hill tomorrow. I like whoever we match up with him. The Sox have a lineup that I just can't see scoring tonight. On the other hand, do you see the dodgers beating the Sox at Fenway?

I can certainly see the Dodgers beating them in Fenway, even if the Sox are favoured. No givens in base
ball.

But with their versatility advantage, yes the Dodgers are clearly better at home than on the road.

None of the Sox starters have thrown a lot of pitches.
Sale had 82, Price 85, Porcello 65.
So they haven’t been overextended.
Plus Price proved in game 5 of Houston series he can go on 3 days rest.
If they win this game with Eovaldi he totally made the right call.
Sale could probably give them 3-4 innings tomorrow if needed.

Dodgers lucky that Nunez is shaken up.

Of course they have been overextended, Its nonsense to claim the extra pitches in non throw days (includign warming up in the pen on non throw days) is not significantly impacting them moving froward.

But Cora took the educated risk to throw most of his chips in to totally take control of this series. Half inning away from really paying off.

Price was going to have a bullpen today.
Instead of throwing 20-30 pitches in the bullpen he threw 14 in the game.
While I am sure the game are more stressful he was totally on adrenaline.
Not going to kill him.
Sox spent all of September lowering the workload on the starters because of their lead.

We will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Sorry, Alex. The Red Sox don't get every call, it just seems that way. :D

That was a tough no swing call. From one angle I saw he was out, from another angle i way he is good.

And good God, I'm sick and farking tired of hearing about the Kirk Gibson walk-off. Geez, do you talking heads not know anything else about WS ball? It was THIRTY freaking years ago! Crimoney!

Of course it isn't sustainable long term. There aren't that many games left.

I'm not talking about long term sustainability. They are making it very tough their last 4. At 2-1, they couldn't afford to risk lesser pitchers tomorrow to recover. At 3-0, they can now Which is why I said their stratefy really forced them to win tonight.

And to be clear... I am not questioning wast Cora has done. I am just saying it paid off.

Am I the only one that watches Dodger games and says that stadium looks like a dump that needs a good paint job.

That was my impression when I watched a game there in 2011, and the blue just seems like it could use a new coat.

Yeah Fenway is old but the ownership makes it look better.
They have given it facelifts. Dodger stadium just looks old.

Five minutes after Nunez stumbles into the stands, someone finally figures out that Muncy picked up 2nd on the play.

edit: Nunez could have slid, still caught the ball and prevented that (IMHO)
