Barring a change of plans, it looks like Monty get the Stadium opener.

Reminds me of 1996 when another sophomore lefty took the bump for game 1 at Stadium.

Hopefully the Yankees season, and the next decade, work out with just a little more success...

Yeah I read the tea leaves the same way. They picked up great depth relatively cheap. Walker at $5M for one year is perfect to contend now, let Gleybar get in rhythm, and then hand him the keys next season.

This FA season played out well for the Yankees that they could grab a player like this on such a favorable contract. One really underrated part of the Stanton trade was how much the Yankees making that commitment so early ended up depressing the FA market in part.

Are there any halfway decent starting pitchers they could snag for $5M out there still?
