2019 Yankees Thread...

She annoys me, but I like her as a person and appreciate her passion for the game. Her career as a girl in a boy's world is inspiring. I can only imagine the crap she had to endure.
Imagine her working with someone like Vin Scully and being able to repeat everything he says 2 innings later. (Too mean?)

Waldman is probably the worst of any sportscaster there is, she makes Sterling look great by being so bad.

I was wasting time on Baseball Prospectus today and noticed how much better the Mets' starting pitchers have been than the Yankees' starting pitchers so far this season. Here are their WARP (Wins Above Replacement Player) values followed by their DRA (Deserved Run Average) values. I have no point to make, this is just an observation.

Mets
Syndergaard: 3.01 2.58
deGrom: 2.93 2.13
Wheeler: 2.59 2.85
Matz: 1.60 3.32
Vargas: 0.25 5.12

Yankees
German (on IL): 1.63 3.51
Paxton: 1.04 3.59
Tanaka: 0.8 4.60
Happ: -0.18 5.86
Sabathia: -0.31 6.16

The Yankees have been up and down. Prior to going on the IL, Paxton had looked like he started to find his groove, so he needs a few more starts to get going more. I think Tanaka and Happ have been good since May 1st, maybe one outing a piece that has been bad. German hit a wall his last 3 starts and now on the IL and CC is a stud through 3 innings, but then hits that wall in the 4th and 5th. They miss Severino obviously, but need another arm there.

Kendrys Morales - What he lacks in power and speed, he makes up for in girth.

I'm an analytics fan, but I really love seeing nerds misapply a stat like DRA. I applaud you for not overextending an interpretation of this comparison.

I don’t know what this means, but if this validates that anyone with a half a brain would rather have Thor, deGrom, Matz and Wheeler over German, Paxton, Happ, CC and I’ll throw in Tanaka (never really been a fan) then I’m all for it.

SP badness has been over shadowed by Hawkeye and Trapper trading 1 liners everyday.
