2019 Yankees Thread...

Thor’s been erratic as hell this season. But he’s probably the best we can get of the non playoff teams. Voit and pieces or Sanchez for him.

Seems highly unlikely there moving Voigt or Sanchez for anyone less Syndegard. We have zero mlb ready guys to replace them in the system not to mention Sanchez when not in a slump is one of the best if not the best hitting catcher in bball. Mets also dont need a 1st basemen

We have plenty of players on the mlb ready guys on the team now. Sanchez is overrated. And when he runs harder than half speed he gets hurt. Pitching wins playoffs. You have to give up something to get something. I’m fine with Romine as the catcher. And lemahieu can play 1st.

They have plenty of prospects they can move along with Frazier. I'm not Sanchezs biggest fan but if you think the Yanks are moving him your going to be disappointed. Maybe if some team asked for Voigt they would move him but I don't see it happening especially with the Mets who already have a log jam at 1st. Better chance of Desi and other prospects moving then MLB guys.

This isn't fantasy baseball. No one is going to trade their starting pitcher for players currently on a roster. They're going to try to raid the Yankee farm system as best they can. Florial, Frazier, Deivi are the biggest prizes right now. Cashman's problem isn't he doesn't have as many of them as he did a couple years ago.

If the current starters could pitch to their 3.5-4 ERA instead of to a 10-12 ERA, this wouldn't be as much of a problem. Each dud of a start is driving the price up even more.

Unfortunately you nailed it. Teams are going to want ask for 2 out of FLorial, Frazier and Deivi. The Yanks have a few other intriguing guys but those are the top 3 for sure. Can't trade both Frazier and Florial (would destroy our minor league OF depth) but one of them is likely to go I'm afraid.

I believe that both Florial and Deivi would be subject to the Rule 5 Draft next season if the Yankees don't add them to the 40.

Hmm didn't realize that, that could prompt some moves. Give me a quick history lesson about the rule 5, and who is eligible, is it based on years in the system and not being on the 40?

Yankees rotation just needs Paxton to step up.
It’s really only Houston that can beat you guys in the playoffs.

Minnesota/Cleveland are both flawed.

Houston has the pitching and offense when healthy.

Oakland is a regular season team.
Boston has no pitching do it’s job.

It’s New York and Houston

Players are eligible for selection in the Rule 5 draft who are not on their major league organization's 40-man roster and:
  • were 18 or younger on the June 5 preceding their signing and this is the fifth Rule 5 draft upcoming; or
  • were 19 or older on the June 5 preceding their signing and this is the fourth Rule 5 draft upcoming.
If the Yankees want to protect these guys, they have to be added to the 40 before the Winter Meetings in December. Scuttbutt was that Deivi was going to be added in September anyways for a call up..

Luis Gil, Luis Medina and Michael King are also eligible.

Ya I read that he had a good shot of coming up in Sept, based on our potential rotation needs next year I really hope we hold onto him especially if were trading for a rental piece.

Well, for whatever reason they hate Frazier, so...

Sounded like he might get called up today but ya I don't get it either. Bizarre, especially with Gardner in the twilight and Hicks/Stanton on they DL every other month.

One guy thought Frazier, another guy thought Maybin.

Maybin thats right, I thought I heard Boone say they wanted him down there for a week playing different positions but that would make sense.

Stroman is the guy I think the Yankees will trade for.
Not sure what it will cost but the Blue Jays never get good value from the Yankees.

They hate Frazier.

That's not it at all. Right now Tauchman has been playing very well and has earned the time, and they need the outfield defensive depth, especially if Hicks needs a blow in CF with Gardner out.
