this is why so many try to get a sponsored.. and some of that if they get good goes back to the sponser for awhile
pga guys have to pay $100 a yr and then $50 an event for the locker
Many do but not all of them can pull them in either. Even for those that get minimal sponsors it is still not an easy existence for quite a few of them.
Let's call the KFT and PGA Canada the minor leagues of golf. Being a minor league golfer is so much more difficult than a minor league hockey player. A player in the AHL at minimum is going to make at least $90K guaranteed -- its not great but its enough to live life with a bit of ease. Even an ECHL player that is making at least $50K, can probably get himself a decent apartment. Again not glamorous but not as tough as a golf minor leaguer.
As for the $100 a year, is that what the PGA member fee costs? It's a nice life on the PGA tour if you can consistently stay in that top 125 -- they also apparently have a great pension which is based on cuts made and earnings which also benefits career journeyman. Thinking of a guy like David Hearn for example.
