Assuming Team A is Boston, if you went back another two years you get a World Series champion (2007) and a team that lost the 7th game in the ALCS in the 9th inning in 2008. I guess the cutoff point matters.$209m buys a pretty solid floor as a .500 team. That patches a lot of ugly, but money alone doesn't buy championships. The Yankees will never have a $70m payroll and a 100-loss team, but that doesn't mean they're successful because they're over .500 either.
Last 12 years:
Team A: 1,052 wins .541 winning % two 'ships, 4 losing seasons
Team B: 1,108 wins, .571 winning %, one 'ship, 0 losing seasons.
I guess the cutoff point matters.
Just giving you more of those analytics that I know you love.
Sucking big time last year really helped the Red Sox.I like Team B.
They aren't looking to trade those guys.Sucking big time last year really helped the Red Sox.
It was a fraud 60 game season and they got the 4th pick in the draft and were able to get some prospects in the draft they can never get.
Even if they don’t play for the team they are assets to use in trade.
The cutoff was chosen specifically to capture the Yankees 2009 championship.Assuming Team A is Boston, if you went back another two years you get a World Series champion (2007) and a team that lost the 7th game in the ALCS in the 9th inning in 2008. I guess the cutoff point matters.
I would trade Mayer down the road for a stud pitcher. They aren't looking to trade those guys.
If team B plays to their capabilities they are the better team. Unfortunately for team B and their fans that has not happened.Only bright side for team B’s fans is that every game is very meaningful right now.Kind of reminds me of Syracuse basketball games from mid January until selection Sunday.$209m buys a pretty solid floor as a .500 team. you think that team b is better than team a this year?If team B plays to their capabilities they are the better team. No I didn’t say that.you think that team b is better than team a this year?
Recently, being a fan of the Yankees is lot like being an SU basketball fan -- the highs fall frustratingly short of championships, and the lows generally exceed those of most other teams. If team B plays to their capabilities they are the better team. I'm not sure that is true. That was certainly the thought before the season but the yanks lacked balance and I don't think many took that in to consideration. But it is a worthy discussion. No I didn’t say that.
If team B played to the back of their baseball cards I think they are a better team, but team A has played better this year.
Maybe, but mostly the same lineup won 103 games in 2019.I'm not sure that is true. That was certainly the thought before the season but the yanks lacked balance and I don't think many took that in to consideration. But it is a worthy discussion.
yeah, and a similar red sox lineup won 108 games in '18. the biggest surprise I think is the two bull pens. I didn't expect much from the red sox and I thought the yanks bull pen would be rock solid. I really think it has been the biggest difference.Maybe, but mostly the same lineup won 103 games in 2019.
I was responding to your claim about a lack of balance, not comparing them to the Sox. I should have isolated it in your quote, my bad.yeah, and a similar red sox lineup won 108 games in '18. the biggest surprise I think is the two bull pens. It’s amazing how common these late game questionable moments have become8th inning issues continue to haunt the Yankees.
