2021 Yankees Season

I stood bolt upright, did a fist pump and yelled "YES!" One of the best plays I've ever seen a pitcher make. Especially given the circumstances.
Me too, he is now one of my favorite players on this team. This team is going to be fun to watch down the stretch. The Rays will be tough to catch, but the vibe of this team is totally different from the beginning of the year. I don't know if it is the new faces, but something is different.

Yes, I think the new faces brought in with them a new charge of energy. Also guys up from the minors making a fraction of what the stars are, hustling and contributing.

I'm hoping the Rays rotation and dependence on openers eventually catches up with them.

I don't think I've ever seen a season with more injuries, gut wrenching losses, and wins that stress you right up to the final out.

And yet here they are, clawed their way back to a wild card spot, and why stop now. Won 11 of the last 12 series (not counting the Angels yesterday, that technically earned them a 4 game split).

And now for the bad news, Andrew Heaney pitches tomorrow. Sox will get their confidence back quickly.

the DH sweep was huge as they are staring at a loss tonight. Can't bet against the Yankees but I'll certainly bet the over 10 runs scored tonight.

Yeah, I didn't think he had a prayer of making that play. I feared he would overthrow first and it would end up a tie game.
Funny how you could see that whole scenario happening as the play was transpiring. My immediate reaction was just field the ball and limit the damage to 1 run. When he turned and gunned it to first I was saying NOOOOOOOOOO. So much could have gone wrong. But that's why I play the game from the couch and they play it on the field.

The thing with the Yankees is that because of their rich history you can always go back and draw a parallel to another season. I know a lot of people are starting to say this is 1978 redux but I was thinking it's more like 1964. High expectations to start the season then injuries and the team underperforming right through July. Manager being criticized for making the wrong moves and players not responding. Yankees call up Stottlemyre to bolster the rotation in July and he goes 9 and 3 down the stretch. Phil Linz plays the harmonica after a loss and Yogi goes ballistic. Team suddenly comes together and they go on to win the pennant. So maybe it's Deja Vu all over again. We get Gil coming up to bolster the rotation, and the team seems to be responding to Boone. Not sure who the harmonica player analogy would be but I'm thinking it could be Odor . . . he seems like the wise guy type that every team needs for comic relief.

how do they do it? their 3b out, their SS out, their 1b out?, their catcher out, their CF out, their 1, 3 and 3 pitcher sidelined
