2021 Yankees Season

He got him. What a play. And that’s why Voit isn’t playing first.
Was closer than I thought after seeing replay. Rizzo was not stretched out like you often see a first baseman which kept it a little closer. Was also trying to play the bounce. Great last out all around. Wow. Thankfully.

If he stretches, that ball eats him up. He was anticipating the throw coming in on the hop.

Exactly. I am just saying, the play was closer because there wasn't a stretch. Not that it was not the correct play. Ball got there quicker than the "close-ness" of the play may have indicated, due to the approach Rizzo needed to take.

Never ever.

Should have given Britton another inning and let Chapman start working things back out against the Twins.

Well, Britton's been pretty wobbly lately. Tonight his velocity and movement were good, location a little less so. All in all, he had a good inning, which he needed. I'm okay with Boone getting him out at that point. "One at a time is good fishing." :)

Rizzo's explanation: "If that ball gets by me, the tying run is on second base, so I just played it into as long a hop as I could. It was a great play all around." :)

No arguments there. Incredible play.

The Battle of Britton may be turning.

So, the top of the order is Voit, Rizzo, Judge, Gallo, Stanton, and the first run is produced by Velazquez and Higashioka.
