2021 Yankees Season

Is he under the care of Dr. CuseRunner now?

“I aplaud this he dont need a MRI. These doctors are overcautious George would hand them there pink slips. Its almost the all star break n were 6 games back we dont have time for more injuries. U just go out there n suck it up and leave it all on the field.”

That was pretty good! You need a run-on sentence or two, and end a sentence with a preposition as well.

Spidertac got Cole that insane contract.
His numbers pre-Houston were good not best in the league.
His spin rate has gone down these last starts.
It’s why teams should be pissed these changes happened mid season.

Where's our stopper?

Not really. The rules are on the books. The game was absolutely being ruined by Spidertec. 7 no hitters by June. Every team has a number of guys hitting less than .200. Cheating is cheating. Always a good time to stop that.

I am fine with changing rules. Just don’t do it midseason.

They should have done this after the year. MLB front office is using lack of offense as a cover that this something that will be negotiated in a new CBA. Pitchers will want something negotiated and MLB will now have leverage and give something that they didn’t need to before and be able to get something they want from the players from as a result.
Manfred is a terrible commissioner.

Cole clearly benefited from a higher spin rate due to whatever he used that he learned while in Houston.

It’s why I won’t hammer during the season as taking it away midseason is the wrong way to enforce the rules. Especially since they are for what I said and MLB is using the lack of offense as cover when a realistic answer is the game has gotten so much younger hitters aren’t getting more ABs in the minors before getting called up.

But they didn't change the rules. That is the rule. It is on the books. They didn't add that rule. They would need the MLB players association to do that. They are enforcing a rule on the books. Pitchers won't get this. Because they are more players than pitchers. and the hitters don't want to pitchers using this. Plus, all pitchers were not cheating. Pretty easy to tell right now who was and wasn't. pitchers that weren't cheating won't want pitchers who are to be rewarded. You will notice the Players association really hasn't put up a fuss.

PA didn’t put up a fuss because any suspension is a paid suspension.
So their people won’t lose money.

Every single team is going to be hurt by this. Red Sox Garrett Richards was clearly using it as his spin rate has gone way down as well.

I just don’t like the way the rule was enforced midseason after not being enforced and it’s part of a negotiation tactic.
Manfred is a downgrade from Selig.

Downgrade from Selig? That is a low bar he can't pass. Look, the Houston players didn't get one suspension. That told us all we needed to know about Manfred. Baseball, all sports really, need a unbiased Commish. That will never happen of course. Richards might be the poster boy for pitchers cheating. That he is lost without that stuff says it all. I have no sympathy for him. Or any of the others. But Pivetta, Nathan E. have not been hurt by this. And Perez and E-Rod haven't been either. Other than Cole's spin rate, I haven't seen the Yankee pitchers hurt all that bad. Maybe Chapman. Something had to be done and had to be done right away. The game was almost unwatchable. And as a person who watches both the Sox and the Yanks every night, no one is going to tell me that baseball hasn't been more enjoyable since they cracked down on this crap.

MLB did send out a memo before the season saying they would be cracking-down on foreign substances.

Now if we could just get robo umps to call ball and strikes. Stop the insane personal strike zones that change with each umpire -- and those ridiculous strike calls on balls a foot off the plate.

should be the first order of business.

I’ve been calling for robot umps/refs since like 2002. There’s got to be a way!

My take as a Sox fan...

Sox are playing over their heads...but only slightly.
Yankees are way underperforming.

As things currently stand, the Sox are WAY ahead in coaching and team building. The longer the Yankees don't make moves in those areas, the better for my team. That gap is way bigger than the talent.

I fully support robot umps. There will be one unfortunate consequence. The value of certain catchers will decrease. Even those who think analytics have ruined the game must appreciate that advanced metrics have verified the skill of pitch framing. At this point, pitch framing is seen as a more important defensive skill than pitch blocking and throwing out runners. Suddenly, this skill will go away, and some catchers will find themselves with little to offer teams.

Trade Judge. He is the one asset that is likely to be overvalued by other teams. Cashman has made a lot of mistakes in the last decade and the current team is an unfortunate accumulation of these failures in assessing talent: too right-handed, too slow, too injury prone, too much money given to "stars" who don't produce, especially who don't produce at critical times.

No, I don't think this will happen.

Personally I'm fine with stuff getting weird and changed midyear because I've already accepted that we don't got it this season so let's get everything worked out when we're not really going to compete anyway.
