Yeah, has to be and the NCAA isn’t (can’t) do anything about it or stop it there’s going to be a lot more of teams trying to poach the best players off weaker programs. IMO.

I wonder if the contact allowed is a little different with grad transfers. If they have already graduated they shouldn't need to be released by their current school.

I won't argue your point, but at the same time, it's hardly a secret in the Big 10 that Iowa QB play has sucked for a few seasons and there's probably a good opportunity to play as a transfer.

You can’t enforce it without gaining access to people’s phones or one of the parties confessing. Everyone knows there’s no teeth to it, so might as well just allow free agency to occur at this point.

I imagine that for a healthy % of these guys, they actually don’t even go into the portal until the deal is basically locked, where the portal is just a formality.

Christian Vellieux of Penn State recently announced he is escaping State College.

We offered him early and he fits the portal profile, as he is from Canada. But I don't think we need QBs right now. If we lose one, he might step right in though.

Fellow Canadian Malick Magia, a WR, was listed on a PSU fan boy web site recently as a player likely to hit the portal. He is someone I would think we would be really interested in. We recruited him hard as well out of HS.

Rumor at North Carolina is a starting player has 18 schools asking him to portal. He told his coach. Everyone believes it’s the young, starting quarterback. That really stinks. I hope they turn all 18 schools in.
