As a cardinals fan, that top of the 9th is the "oh ship" moment for me. I always root for the NL team unless they're pond scum.I can’t believe a team I paid zero attention to all season and assumed would lose to the Cardinals, is going to win the freakin World Series.
lots of baseball to be played.I can’t believe a team I paid zero attention to all season and assumed would lose to the Cardinals, is going to win the freakin World Series.
I generally always root for the NL unless they’re the SF Giants. So….pond scum.As a cardinals fan, that top of the 9th is the "oh ship" moment for me. I always root for the NL team unless they're pond scum.
Ok, now what is baseball coming to? Christian Javier has a no-hitter going thru 6 innings in a World Series game and he is being relieved?? Or, maybe I should say, and he’s giving up the ball?
Don Larsen is rolling over in his grave.
A six inning no-hitter hasn’t been an accomplishment since Little League. Don’t these guys have any pride in accomplishment anymore? You’d have to have stadium security escort me off the playing field if I was Javier.
He wasn't going to throw 135
But, why shouldn’t he? Why is 100 a magic number? Does anyone really believe that all arms are the same and can only endure 100 pitches or even that the number would be a “magical” round number like 100?
I think the 100 number is what media and fans throw around. I assume organizations have a more nuanced approach that is certainly informed by probabilities.
Don Larsen threw 97 pitches in his perfect game. Javier was at 97 (?) when he got yanked, long counts and walks.
He wasn't going to throw 135 pitches.
I agree that this shouldn't (and won't) go down in baseball lore like Larsen.
