2022 NYS Section III Thread...

What's wrong with Mercyhurst?
Nothing wrong with mercyhurst, they’re extremely good this year with a former starting Harvard attackman and the best face off guy in D2. I was just saying they have a pipeline going now between the north country but pretty sure top talent played on teams in cuse for travel or previously rhinos

Are there any other local kids at WG, Liverpool, Bville, FM, JD, or Lafayette that could really turn into prospects for D1?
Mojo's nephew is doing nice things at Skan. Not sure how high level he is, but someone to keep an eye on.

Christian Hogan at Auburn could be something special. Has several older brothers playing DI lacrosse.

There a few young kids at Marcellus (8th and 9th graders) that play on Sweetlax 2026 team that went to the World Series. Doshna in particular is supposed to be very very good.

Oooph West Genny losing to Vestal is a bit of a surprise. Pool with the big win against FM. Looks like a good chance at a Pool and Bville section 3 championship.

I know there are a couple Bucktooths at Lafayette with Jameson and Brett jr. I believe both are juniors right now and Jameson is a scorer. I believe he had close to 90 points last season as a sophmore.

They’re pretty decent for being a north country team but someone who moved from the area and still has family in unity program, they get smoked by any average team and the top tier talent up there (they almost all go to Mercryhurst) don’t play unity

What's an average club team?

I should've clarified a little. I saw them play over the winter and their JV and Modified teams really stuck it to some pretty good Section2 kids.

Ik the base ones like Lockwood, have heard of the lpool kid, and obv Lafayette has some nice players, but more like under the radar guys that maybe are frosh and can turn the page and step into a dominate role. Like some of the caz players over the years or like some the JD or ESM kids of late.

There’s gotta be someone flying under the radar.
There are a number of 2022( seniors) in the section that are D1 quality players. 2022 was the most impacted COVID class. These were sophomores that lost their season. Soph year is critical in recruiting. Lots of schools held super seniors and passed on anything not at the top of 22. Some good players in Class A. Several at Liverpool. #7 on CNS putting up good numbers , strong dodger that got past Bville's D1 poles. Tully has talent as well lots out there

Christian Hogan is by far Auburns best player - had a solid frosh year and is off to a good start his sophomore year. There's not really a lot of high level talent around him, which will keep his production down.

Auburn has a handful of kids who will play D3, but overall not really a strong team this year, which sucks to say because they are an upperclassmen dominant team this year - only three Sophomore players. They do have one or two kids worth watching outside Hogan.

Really looks like a couple tough years for Auburn unless some kids in 7th, 8th, or 9th grade make the leap in next year or two to help out Hogan.

Auburns one of those Athletic programs that can't have multiple teams successful teams at the same time. Football has a bunch of talented kids, and baseball too, but it seems this year it's coming at the expense of lacrosse and hockey.

ESM specifically sending a lot of underrated talented players into college recently. Derrek Madonna has been 4 year very good starter at Hobart, younger brother Lance gonna be another productive 4 year starter at Richmond and Gavin Houghtaling getting early playing time as freshman at Richmond with other D1 players getting time and D2 starters. Interesting two is Jackson Palumb going to IMG for post year for football and lacrosse, potentially flip for Matt’s son? Also with Derrek being in portal next year and a lack of proven midfield options, does he come home for his 5th year?

He's not going to UAlbany? Interesting then to see where he ends up.

Derrek would be a good fit but unclear what if any interest there is by either SU or Derrek. I don't believe he was recruited by SU at all out of HS and with the coaching changes their probably isn't any sort of personal connection like there would be if Desko and Rogers were still there. I think it would be a great match for both parties but have no idea if their is mutual interest.
