2022 NYS Section III Thread...

Yes it was 5-2 at half, 6-5 final
well, that's something. the door opened just a bit wider for the cats. they'd still have to beat vestal, who they've lost to, and canadaigua to get to state final... but there's an opening. vestal is coached by a west genny alum.

WG beats FM for section 3 title. All is right in the world.
lol WG was not a great team this year and is lucky they moved down to B. They were not going to beat B'ville in A.

imo new season, new culture and they're starting to play good ball and peak at the right time. Same with Lafayette.

Agree that Genny is starting to play good lax. But from seeing both WG and B'ville in person this season, there is a gap in talent and chemistry between the 2 teams. I actually felt both Liverpool and CNS were similar in talent to WG this year but B'ville was a notch above. Class B was an easier path to the Sec III crown.

Overall, 10 teams from Section III landed spots in the poll. Here’s the rundown:

Class A

3. Baldwinsville, 16-1
21. Liverpool, 11-6

Honorable mention: Cicero-North Syracuse, 9-5; Syracuse 10-8

Class B

9. West Genesee, 12-6

Honorable mention: Auburn, 12-6; East Syracuse Minoa, 10-7; Watertown, 13-6

Class C

8. Westhill, 15-2
12. CBA, 16-3
19. Jamesville-DeWitt, 12-6

Honorable mention: Carthage, 11-6; Homer, 10-6; New Hartford, 13-4

Class D

11. LaFayette-Onondaga, 10-8
16. Cazenovia, 11-8
17. Skaneateles, 12-6
18. Marcellus, 18-7

Honorable mention: General Brown, 8-8

Section 6:

Class B: Hamburg vs Orchard Park - 5:00

Class C: Lake Shore-Silver Creek vs East Aurora - 7:00

Carthage

Carter Kempney, MF
Scouting report: “Carter did anything and everything I asked of him for six years,” said coach Jason Coffman. “Watching him become such a respected team player and leader this year showed incredible growth as a person and as a player. I cannot wait to watch him play for Syracuse next year.”

JeremyCuse any these kids projected to any big recruiting Luther than Burns and Lockwood
Brendon Barnard is very good. His father is the coach at Hamilton College. He is a legit DI prospect. Other than that, its a pretty poor representation of the talent in Upstate. Number of the more talented kids must not have tried out.

The Command team has some future stars...Jack Holbrough is one of the best younger players in the country. He has Ivy written all over him though.

Think CP pretty much nailed it. There are a handful of kids but beyond that the overall talent level remains down. Lafayette, JD and some other schools have some young guys who could make a jump next year. CBA with Powell will be interesting if he stays there for a few years. Westhill has also produced a number of mid to lower D1 and D2 kids but not that big D1 recruit as of yet.

Plenty of factors to our demise in recent years, but a big one is having to move away from our main recruiting area due to the drop in depth of talent. In our last era truly at the very top we had a gazillion upstate ny guys. 2009-11 Nims, Abbott, Hardy, Jovan, Joel White, Desko, Jeremy Thompson, Galloway, Amidon, Guadagnolo, Loftus, Narewski and more... like the whole damn team! And that was still with losing some recruits in our back yard to other schools. Cut to today where our upstate guys are basically in backup roles, Cook, Fiorini, Fratterigo, Barlow, Ferris, Magnan, etc.

An upstate allstar team would still be rock solid but it ain't like it used to be. We would have to get the very best kids from around here every year and even then it would not stack up to the talent around 2010.

Syracuse had three of the top five recruits, with Pat Perritt, Kenny Nims and Dan Hardy featured on the cover. No. 1 Danny Glading and No. 5 Max Seibald make up the rest of the top five.

Hardy and Nimmer from Section III.

Now the best Section III kid is barely top 50.

recruiting is all over nowadays. even if cny was flush, those kids would be targeted by any major or semi-major power. and cuse has missed more than they've gotten because there's more teams. and ... upstate has probably sunk as a relative locale in today's economy.

the '22 class is an example of what can be done.

Are they going to be “Baldwinsville Bees” or some version of that? I don’t think they can compete under NYSPHSAA rules like that. It’s why at cross country nationals F-M uses some othe moniker.
Not sure. But I learned tonight that West Genny is also playing at this showcase vs Calvert Hall. Yikes!!!! But of course nothing from syracuse.com on that game.

Looking into it more there are 44 teams. Bville, WG, FM are in it with every good private and public school team. Cool concept.
