2023-24 NBA Season

I'm pro the tournament. I think it will end up being cool. And if it doesnt, we're in the same position we are already
Same. I’m just skeptical teams like Denver, Golden State, Milwaukee, Phoenix, LA or Boston will take it seriously.

Like will we see Klay/AD/Lebron/Booker etc load management games. My guess is yes.

Sporting News from October 19th -
Going back to this list, Leonard is ranked 14th. TSN acknowledges he’s still elite when he’s healthy, yet his ranking takes a hit because he doesn’t play enough. Meanwhile, Durant is ranked 6th and has played fewer games over the last several years than Leonard. He barely gets knocked for that.

It got me thinking…Why does Durant get a free pass for everything?

He demands a trade from Brooklyn and doesn’t get criticized. Contrast that with Carmelo Anthony.

He didn’t get along with his Warriors teammates and nobody really talks about it. Irving and Harden are blamed for Brooklyn, not Durant. Westbrook was the problem in OKC.

Dude is soft on and off the court. He gets a little grief over his social media posts, although it doesn’t stick. Two straight losses to the Spurs and he’s not held accountable.

I know he can shoot, but come on.

Agreed. The Bucks are at least talking like the tournament is something that's important to them; saying they expect it to be a playoff atmosphere. Guess we'll see. I know basically the entire team is sick right now too, including Brook Lopez seemingly pooping himself during our last game.

Didn't Paul Pierce leave a game in a wheel chair some years back because he crapped himself?

Take it seriously compared to what? We see load management games during the regular season all the time. With the financial inventives I would think if anything they would be a little less likely to rest them in these games (and I think the schedule is set up in a way that they don't occur as the second game of a B2B, but dont quote me on that). The games still count in the regular season standings.

Agree with some of this, but KD is in no way soft "on the court." Goes all out every game on both ends of the court, no matter what the situation might be with his contract or drama on the team. Not sure where you are getting that from. Not like he is a free throw merchant like Harden or Embiid. Probably not "held accountable" for two losses to the spurs because he played well in those games and is just one player on a team that has a weak supporting cast after their big three, 1-2 of which were hurt in these last two games. Only 3 years younger than Lebron.

The games are every Tuesday/Friday? Are they not playing at all on Monday and Thursday?

I think it would be fun for the season if some up and coming team like the Kings win, but the media will just say it didn't mean as much to the leagues elite teams.

Might want to watch the end of the first loss to the Spurs.

The tournament games are every Tuesday/Friday, but there are 7 days of pool play for everyone to play 4 games, so it's not like everyone is playing every tues/fri. So (I think! there may be one or two exceptions but some quick googling says i'm right) if you have a tournament game you won't be playing the day before.

That's good news. There's no games at all on the schedule at all next Tuesday. I'd like to know the the last time that's happened in the regular season outside of Christmas eve or Thanksgiving.

I did. One play does not define a guy who has played hard his whole career.

Starting last year they arent scheduling any games on election day. So prior to 2022, probably against the NCAA title game some year? They don't put many, if any, games up against it.
