Also, Symir will transfer with picking up JJ. We'll roll out Mintz, JJ and Q as the guard set next year with Taylor (if he doesn't transfer) spell the 2G position a bit
This image fits what I believe Red's style will be.

Boo giggity

Any inkling on Taylor? I really like his potential as a shooter and hope we can keep him.
I wouldn’t be too upset if he left. He has to develop a ton more to play meaningful minutes.

Reds philosophy needs to be if you can’t or won’t play defense you won’t play. Don’t care how good you can shoot.

Too bad about Symir transferring, like someone else posted, I think he's got the makings of a coach. I get it if he wants minutes, otherwise learning from Red, Griff, and Gmac ain't terrible.

The free throw percentage for a guard is not good. He's going to be an attack the rim guard and will live there. He needs to get that in the 75-80% range.
I would love for him to get up there, but honestly, even if he were to continue shooting around 70% from the FT line (which is where he is over the last two years), free throws will still be more efficient than anything else. Would obviously love for him to get that % up higher in the event of close games where it matters more, but free throws remain efficient offense unless you start getting down to like 50% and below free throw shooters.

I missed that. Can you link the thread?
that's he's transferring? SuOrangeSU posted it in this thread as a probability.

The coach thing is just an observation based on the way he carries himself and how he interacts with the players on the court.

This dude..
Soriano's not in the portal yet, but with a coaching change you never know. If Jesse leaves I think I'd be okay with him, assuming there's mutual interest.

Boeheim hadn't pulled a McDonald's All-American since Malachi some eight years ago. Autry hasn't been on the job for a week and he just bagged one.

Maybe Boeheim would've been able to nab Starling coming off of Brey leaving ND if JB were still the coach, but I'm not convinced.
Really?

I think the promise of a starting role is the wrong sales pitch for a former 5-star recruit that just was humbled on a crappy ND team. Once a player realizes how difficult it is to be great in college, and their one-and-done fantasy is gone, I think they would be more interested in who can develop him into an NBA prospect.

Coach should pitch opportunity to develop, and opportunity to start. I think our staff has a good track record on developing guard talent. Look at Judah in december vs. Judah in February or Joe's development in four years, or MCW, Ennis, Gbinje, Buddy, etc.

Cuse is a very good school for a player who wants to work hard and get to the NBA.

Haha so true. Not the most ideal shooting guard group but the last few years we’ve gone shooting, shooting, shooting and hasnt gone great. Cant hurt to switch it up a bit
I think the difference in those three though is that they're a lot better at getting to the basket.

Recently our guards that weren't shooters just weren't huge offensive threats in general.

But that's where those so much upside. Those guys collectively becoming a bigger threat shooting threes and really good things happen.
