2023 Preseason Camp Thread

I love the high praise for Oliver! Maybe that loss of jahad wont be as felt as we think…. Also the praise for our CB transfers…. Love it!!! Let’s gooo
I was very high on Oliver last season. That excitement was a little premature. Seeing him at the spring game two years ago I was really impressed with his size and speed. Can he push to be in the rotation?

Emily asked the other day what we want to see. I told her, and Emily delivered.

Players get moved around, banged up, coaches experiment with players, moving them around, etc.

So any analysis of these brief clips is dangerous and prone to error. That said, I looked at these with great interest.

It looked like the third team OL in the first clip.

LT 99% sure it was Bass
LG Moeolo (confirmed he is at least working at OG some)
C Kauhi (first time I have seen him working at center, work makes sense given his weight)
RG Olsen (walk on)
RT Mack

By process of elimination, the second team appears to be

LT J Cruz or Wohlabaugh or Petry
LG Bradford or Hoeh
C Reed
RG Bradford or Hoeh
RT J Cruz or Wohlabaugh or Petry

No surprises so far.

Emily had Gould with the CBs in a couple of her recent articles but he played as a safety in the spring game, appeared to be playing safety in a brief video yesterday and Clark mentioned him as part of safety unit in his interview. So I think we need to consider him a safety.

No expert but I liked the way Perry moved in that DL drill. He has it. Not sure exactly what it is, but it is good and he has a lot of it.

Is the center typically supposed to be the heaviest guy on the line?

Maybe Bleich had a minor owie or this is some experimenting but it looks IIke we are looking at the first team OL and we have Wohlabaugh at RT, with More at LG and Ilaoa holding strong at center. Believe that was Ellis at LG.

Interesting.

If this is the first team OL, how surprised would you be? I haven’t been following nearly as close.

Also, do you think we’ll run anything with LQA and one of the new RBs to use LQA as a more hybrid type of player like Deebo Samuel?

I would be really surprised. If Bleich is healthy, I think he is starting.

They might be resting him. He might be banged up. They might just be experimenting. Who knows, he might have had an equipment problem and missed a few plays?

More surprised More was working some at OG.

All that said, it is a good thing to experiment with OL and cross train them so in the event of an injury, players have exposure to other positions. I believe More played all three positions on the OL at Richmond. They might just be seeing what he can do at each position.

Does anyone know when we can expect a depth cart? Is it this week or next?

At first I thought you had x-ray vision to see through the defensive bodies and read jersey numbers. But after inspecting it closer in slow-mo that is the exact line-up i see as well. Obviously it is still very early with first days in pads so probably just trying different pieces and cross training etc.
