Don't be surprised if St Joes sneaks up close to the top ten this yr. They have a tougher schedule this yr so if they beat those good teams they definitely can hang around 10 - 13 .Not in my opinion. Penn is top 10. The others look a little "iffy".

you have to consider a team's conference opponents when evaluating an ooc slate. a patriot team, or big east, has to have some top games to have a shot at an at large. duke has 6 games against last year's top 20 rpi, and then 3 others denver, loyola and jax that were top 25, one of which is preseason #13.Not in my opinion. Penn is top 10. The others look a little "iffy".
Tucker Brown is back. LIU had talented players just no depth and Will Mark so they played a lot of tight games and played well with St Joes. Will Mark saved 56% but that's agajnst 40 shots on goal a game. He kept them in games. Idk what the avg shots on goal a game is but I know lower then that. If Will faced 25 shots on goal a game he would have saved around 60% his career at LIU. Ppl don't realize that. Richie Lacalandra who is now starting at attack for Ohio State was another reason they played St Joes tough. I get what ur saying but also they made a goalie change after the loss to Drexel I believe which they were up big and gave it up. The new goalie I forget his name only lost 1 game which was the OT game to Penn and then Yale in tournament, He was a big upgrade so take that into account to with the Penn State game and Bonny's. They lost by 1 to Deleware with the old goalie. Bryant had a let down yr don't forget they ran with Virginia in 1st round of tournament in 2021. Their attack was Mark Oroark who is playing the sixes in the PLL next month then Ben Albladian who transferred to Cornell and Owen McGovern who I believe transferred to North Carolina. Oh and there goalie is at Hopkins now I think. Also coached by Mike Pressler so these teams were talented just lack the depth. Could hang with very good teams tho. St Joes has depth and a very good Fogo. I'm not saying they will beat Duke or make it to final 4 wknd but they are a tough team and not an easy game for anyone. Zach Cole and Tucker Brown were both All Americans while Levi Anderson u know is good then Carter Page played for team Canada in the U21. The sleeper is Matt Bohmer who plays attack with them. He put up like 50 goals last yr and is big powerful kid. Some of these top Mid Majors have talent but just lack depth like I said so u give them an ACC schedule they will struggle having to battle top teams every game. They can give any team a tough game tho. St Joes is not a top 10 team but I think they can hang just outside of it. Their similar to like a Deleware. That's why you can't just look at past schedules yet didn't know they made a goalie change and only lost to Penn by 1 in OT and Yale by 2 in tournament. Then like in Will Marks case u see 56% which is good but even better when he's facing 40 shots on goal a game. If he faced 20 - 25 he might have been over 60%. We got a legit goalie at Cuse now you guys will see.St Joes is an odd one because I get the hype after their overall record and performance against yale last year, but their schedule (at least last year's) was an extremely easy one and there were still some head scratching results. They lost to Drexel and had close games againt Bonaventure (granted in the first game of the season), Towson, Bryant, Penn State, and LIU (no offense to our valued LIU/Cuse fan AD31!!). Close games to two good Ivy teams were impressive, but there wasn't really a super quality win for them all of last season. They do seem to return everyone relevant, but in the end I feel like the Yale game is the main reason for the hype, and that Yale D gave up a lot of goals last season in the first place. Think it's enough to earn tail end of the rankings honors, but not much above that to my eyes.
I know Levi Anderson is coming back but they also had two guys above 40 points, Tucker Brown and Alex Strazzula, who were also listed as seniors last year. Anyone know if they are coming back as well?
St Joes Schedule this yr is stronger being in the A 10 and there OOC is better to with Duke, Hopkins and I also think they play Army to open the season. That's why u said with a tougher schedule if they win big games they can hang just outside of the top 10.St Joes is an odd one because I get the hype after their overall record and performance against yale last year, but their schedule (at least last year's) was an extremely easy one and there were still some head scratching results. well, why didn't you say that? your original lame analysis is a pretty poor way of counting. do you think running down duke's schedule makes umd look better?I actually was factoring in the ACC schedule:
Duke plays 4 top ten teams: Penn, UVA (2), and ND, along with Denver
UVa plays 5 top ten teams: Duke(2), ND(2), and UMd, along with OSU
Notre Dame plays 5 top ten teams: UVa(2), Duke, UMD, and Georgetown along with OSU
I believe UVa's and ND's are solid schedules for competing for an at-large NCAA spot, while Duke's schedule looks a little bit weak to me.
This is preseason so I don't really knowl where various teams out around #20 will end up.
Duke also happens to play both Penn and ND on the road.
I was actually looking out for Good Auld UVa.well, why didn't you say that? your original lame analysis is a pretty poor way of counting. do you think running down duke's schedule makes umd look better?
i'd heard duke hasn't played maryland in any sport since the b1g move. not sure if it's true, but that's some next level bitter if so.I was actually looking out for Good Auld UVa.
It is sort of interesting that Coack K ("Duke will not play UMd in any sport") has retired, and Duke and Maryland are scrimmaging.
Maryland only has 4 top 10 games: Princeton, UVa, Notre Dame and Rutgers, and also OSU. Maryland does have the Big Ten tmt to add in, along with as AQ to go after.
Of course Syracuse has 6 top 10 opponents: Duke(2), UVa, ND, UMd, and Princeton.
Still waiting on SU game times. Looks like each SU game listed here is given a 11:59 start time which must be a place holder. Season is less than a month away and it doesn't seem like practice as started.
On the plus side it looks like bios for Freshmen and Transfers have been updated on the roster. Also roster says 2023 and not 2022 Fall Roster. Still no Jake Murphy from LIU listed though they still may be in the process of updating. Don't see any additions and haven't noticed any subtractions.

Jake Murphy is up there I know that for a fact so he will be added soon. He told me they have a meeting Tomo and then 1st practice is Thursday.

Sunday February 26:
North Carolina at Syracuse: Face facts, the loser is going to be the bottom feeder of the ACC. The Orange freshman class is being asked to produce. Thrown into the fire will be freshmen Joey Spallina, Finn Thomson, Billy Dwan, Jordan Beck, Michael Leo and Carter Kempney.
I imagine Princeton will score on Maryland, the question is how much? Last season, Princeton scored 10 and 8 on Maryland. Princeton needs to replace their leading scorer, Chris Brown.Maryland at Princeton: A rematch of the 2022 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Lacrosse Semifinal, which featured a win by the Terps. I could argue that Princeton was the second best team in the nation when 2022 ended and the Tigers bring back impactful offensive pieces and defensive midfielders. You have to love Alex Slusher, Jake Stevens, Sam English, Alex Vardaro, Beau Pederson and Coulter Mackesy. They’ll score on Maryland. Worth watching in this game? The specialists; where Maryland could have an edge.
i mean, they were 4-10 overall and 1-5 in the ACC last year. they're the "bottom feeders" until they prove they're not. doesn't mean they're destined to be that again but it's a reasonable take at this point to say cuse and unc will be fighting for spots #4 and #5 in the ACC again. UVA, ND, and Duke will all be strong again, especially those first two. maybe they can slip past Duke to be #3 but that's a big if. UNC is a total question mark with all their personnel changes and the Orange are still in all likelihood a year or two away from returning to the top half of the league given all the young faces and the issues on DI would hang that all over the locker room and challenge every upper classman. Bottom feeder huh
