2023 Schedule Guesses

Monster Jam is coming April 8.

Plan on a road game that weekend.

Hey SU is playing Duke in San Diego March 4th. I was able to see the schedule quick. First 3 games are home Vermont, Albany and Holy Cross which is great with a young team to get in the flow especially the 4th game is at Maryland. Hopefully be 3 - 0 with some confidence going into the Maryland game February 18th and then at UNC. After that is the San Diego vs Duke. The rest I can't remember but they only play Virginia once the 2nd to last game. Oh I also saw Princeton on the schedule towards the end but before Virginia. Final 5 or 6 games are tough. I'll try and get a copy and put it on here

Oh it's a 15 game schedule and Hofstra, St Bonny's and Hobart in the middle of schedule. He think it's great they start with winnable games then some tough ones then a few more winnable games then the final leg is tough but they should be ready to go by then. Hopkins is on schedule to

no army and now no cornell. that is, to me at least, ... odd. when's the last time that happened?

it is a challenging schedule, but i think one thing you can say... there isn't an ooc game that is untouchable any longer.

Thanks for sharing! This is a really tough schedule, especially since the last four games are away from home and the last home game is against a Notre Dame team they’ve had zero success against recently.

Trying to be objectionable but I think outside of Maryland, the first 10 games for the Orange are winnable games. I’m not saying they will win them all, but the opportunities are there. They play well against Duke, UNC should be down next year. I think Hopkins will be better than most people think (mostly their own fans) but SU should win that game at home. Vermont and their faceoff situation scare me a bit (I think Fifes is a good coach) and Hofstra on a Tuesday night gives me the willies, but those are two games SU absolutely should win if they want to be taken seriously.

Army and Cornell both being off the schedule is really weird to get used to, especially since SU and Cornell have met over 100 times, but I think it’s good to add new blood to keep things fresh. We can nitpick but I imagine they’ll be back in the future.

My heart with this the schedule says something like 9-6. My head says it’s probably closer to 7-8. I think it all comes down to the UNC and Duke games. If they split those games I think they could be in pretty good shape. We shall see, I’ve been wildly wrong about how good or bad the Orange would be preseason, but I think there are lots of reasons to think this SU team will be pretty good.

It sort of looks like Gait wants to have a full week to prepare for his better opponents.

In terms of Army, it sort of reminds me of UMd dropping Navy off the schedule last year. Patriot league teams have pretty full conference schedules and it can be hard to find a good date.

slice it any way you want to, army and cornell are off the sked. the hoos look like they're going 2 years in a row without an ivy. don't know the last time that happened, even once, but i believe it's a mistake espec given they put 6 in the nc$$ last year.

train started on acc thinking 6 in-conference reg season games was a good idea. i don't believe these guys really know how it works.

Confirms what I had heard in the late summer/fall that SU was likely to drop a long term opponent. Have to say I am surprised it's two and that one of them is Cornell. I do get dropping Army though, its become a no win situation for SU as Army plays like their hair is fire and then inevitably falls apart at some point in the Patriot League just enough to miss the NCAA tourney. Of course the year we finally drop them is the year they lose their goalie and pretty much everyone with a pulse on offense.

Good point about the schedule, had heard that both schools weren't thrilled about having to play a mid week game last year and I think it's likely they would have had to do it again if they played this year. Honestly a couple years off in he series isn't the worst thing. Cornell being dropped is definitely a surprise.
