Wouldn't they be able to leave after the semester though? Leave in May and enroll ASAP.

I might be misunderstanding your thought process, but players can't just leave and join other teams after a semester is done. Well, they can leave but they can't join another team without going through the transfer portal. Otherwise, what's the point of the transfer portal. Or maybe I am wrong.

I'm probably not explaining it well.

In the past, anyone could transfer but had to wait a year. Now, they join the team almost immediately until these new rules possibly pass.

If they pass, how in the world can a school stop a player that ended the semester in good standing to transfer to another school for the fall? Even the old system allowed that. So if that said player does what I said does he now has to sit a year if the transfer isn't in the transfer portal window?

The same mentality that "experts" and coaches used for TVD and DJU. They don't want to be wrong that the kid isn't what they thought he would be.

Yep, so the only guys left who can transfer in this winter cycle are grad transfers, OSU and ND players and any team who’s head coach leaves going forward(cough, Colorado, cough)

I think this almost needs a separate post. So, is the NCAA really saying that kids can play for team x one day and play for team y the next day.

Is this the next reason to believe that the football and probably basketball schools need to secede from the NCAA and form their own organization and rules.
