2024-25 Portal

While it is a good idea to pick up Ven-Allen Lubin, It would definitely stretch Red’s player management skills to find time for 13 people.

I assume that 7-9 players will get significant playing time.

I’m sure that Ven-Allen as a senior will be looking for starter position and significant playing time.

‘Will be surprised if we pick up any more players.

I agree. If they added anyone it would probably be like when they signed Jesse Edwards. A Euro center who is a project.

At this stage of the game how real is the “interest” list as much as it is to seem there are many suitors..
 
So there seems to be some rumblings that Syracuse isn’t done with their portal class and it may not just be filling in depth pieces, it seems this current roster is attracting interest from players looking for the right “fit”

I don’t have full specifics and we should take it with a grain of salt but it seems Red and Alex Kline are still active in the portal even with the previous signings

This note is somewhat tantalizing… Another bouncy 6’9 guy or even a true rotation center would alleviate my concerns about being able to compete in the middle in a long conference season.

Right now, one injury to a big man and we are paper thin. Two injuries, and we’re relying on a 210 lb freshman to be an iron man starter, with a small forward backup. Sadiq White isn’t Hakim Warrick, and even if he is Hakim didn’t really begin to realize his potential until he was a sophomore.

So I do want to be careful about starting rumors but I’ve heard there is some new interest from an impact player or two that sees Syracuse as a great fit because of the current roster. This wouldn’t be a bench piece or rotational center. They are trying to get these guys to visit campus. Will anything come of it? We will have to see but I thought it was interesting because after Betsey, I assumed we were done and if anything was added it would be for that 13th scholarship role.

Claude and Agee? I don't know where the minutes would come from but they are the only pair of connected impact players I can think of that we have been rumored to be interested in or have ties to.

Agee, Jamir Watkins, maybe other guys exploring NBA but planning to come back. I agree with the comment that the staff realized they were tipping their interest by following on social media and have since stopped that

Important to note, I don’t have direct knowledge on the “who” (However, I do feel rather confident on the other part that they are still looking to add an impact player and these players are now interested in Syracuse because of the current roster. The hope is to get them on campus)

Of the impact guys that are still out there, this is pure speculation. I just don’t see any impact guy looking at our 1-4 positions and would want in. I think if we get any more impact guy it would be a 5. I said earlier and have no idea if there is mutual interest, but I think Ven-Allen Lubin would be a perfect fit for this Syracuse roster. Seems like we still got some money to spend, how much? Who knows. Lubin doesn’t intend to leave UNC though in his transfer tweet and his entering has to do with the NCAA settlement.

Being satisfied can be a dangerous thing.

If we can make the roster better, we should.

Yes. How much who knows. But good players are attracted to playing with other good players and even more so to potential winning situations. In my opinion the only player assured of a staring spot next year is Freeman with JJ and George close behind. Even with Freeman, if either RJ Luis or Darrion Williams wanted to come I'm sure the door is open and Donnie would start next to either one. Note: I have no idea who is being rumored, just used Luis and Williams as 2 of the best out there still in the portal.

I personally think the only position that can use another guy is at the 5. I really like what we have at the 1-4 positions. Again, what’s up Ven-Allen Lubin.
