Don't believe the Yankees are interested in Alonzo. Would not be a fan of the move unless its to gin up the price for him to return to the Mets.

Ya I mean look I would have loved to have Soto back, dude's an unreal player but it was pretty clear from Day 1 of the trade he was at best 50/50 to return. I think most reasonable yankees fans felt he was likely to leave for the Mets. Again would have been thrilled to have him back for 10+ years but we already have 2 huge contracts for guys into their late 30's, early 40's and dropping 800 mill on one dude with Steinbrenner already saying he's not gonna go nuts each year with $$ was probably not gonna work out well in the long term.

Certainly a massive loss but Yankees have a ton of $$ to play with now and even more coming off in the not to distant future.

He definitely came into his own as a starter. I think it was a fair trade for a year of Soto though. Let’s hope we don’t wish we still had Hughes a year from now because he kills it as a starter.

He's actually pretty good when healthy, as he was with the Mets last season, and he doesn't have as much mileage on his arm compared to many others his age. That probably isn't a bad deal considering what starters are commanding these days.
