2024 Holiday Bowl- Syracuse vs. Washington State December 27th, 8pm ET

Getting a little nervous about this game given the circumstances. We really need to stomp them for win #10.

Hopefully, we have come down off the high of the Miami game. The fact that we did not play well in either game coming off bye weeks is crossing my mind. WSU will be playing short handed, but most likely care free with no expectations. We didn't exactly blow anyone out (not counting Holy Cross) this year. Can't let them hang around.
I hear this, but a recent article from the local Spokane paper, things are even worse than I thought... Along with 13 starters transferring away from Washington State, they literally don't know who's calling the defense a week before the game, and have a first time coach calling the offensive plays as well. Interim head coach, offensive and defensive coordinators and a bunch of starters already on other teams didn't bode well for them.

Our biggest problems wouldn't be on their top 10 list of problems.

Sucks to suck.

Let's smack these dweebs.

I don't want to hear it. We played the whole season without Dino

I am looking forward to the Holiday Bowl. I hope SU absolutely crushes WSU. I would enjoy that immensely!
If we absolutely crush WSU, it will solidify the national perception that SU football is on the rise and to be taken seriously again. We have definitely improved as the year went along and the college football world is taking notice. We could not have beaten Miami early on in the season (aka Stanford). Crushing WSU will really setup the first game against Tennessee next year.

I’ll watch, but playing against a team that is in worse shape than Syracuse was in last years bowl game does little to excite me.
I mean, I get it with wazzu’s situation but it still is better than playing an fcs team. If you said Rutgers you had me at hello.

It will be interesting this week to see if either Duke or Wash. St. U go into their bowl games as the bigger Dog.

10 wins and Fran starting his Syracuse career with a top 25 final ranking should excite folks.

No way, get excited.

I was more excited for the Holy Cross game this year than the Holiday Bowl.
That should tell you how much they have screwed up college athletics.

If the game goes as expected it will be a clinic to execute well and feature the top talent we had this year and put more on tape. Blowouts aren’t exciting but there is so much more to enjoy from this game.

That includes all the coverage which should get into the individual player talent and big moments but also carrying the narrative we’ve seen come up in the SMU and Clemson games about the unbalanced schedules and not knowing who was the best team in the ACC this year given neither of them played us.

Then keeping the strong schedule narrative and giving the country a chance to see that almost every win this year was against a bowl team including 3 wins against ranked teams.

There is a lot of opportunity to have a lot of good coverage for the program that can benefit Fran even talking about the what ifs around McCord and the excitement for next year with some big time games on the schedule.

I think putting all of that together to have one of our major sports actually getting some serious love in the national media for a change given the dry spells we have encountered.

That’s some deep stuff bro.

The FPI % chance to win on ESPN only has Cuse predicted to win at 50%. As a 17 point favorite. Not sure if I understand the math.
It’s based off an algorithm that utilized the stats from every game played this year by both teams. So it assumes the productions from all season, and not factoring in the “human” element

I don’t think it takes injuries, opt outs etc into consideration, not to mention a gutted coaching staff

Yeah, their dumb metric assumes Wazzu is unchanged from the 8-4 squad.

When nothing could be further from the truth.

Even if the only change was at QB, that’s still massive for a game that likely will be high-scoring
At least on one side now.
Their QB2 transferred in from Bryant, and has a total of 19 game snaps this season.

Just off the top of my head, on O they’ve lost:
QB1
RB1
WR2

And on D they’re lost
2 starting DL
Leading tackler.
Another starter (who’s in the portal, but woulda played) to injury.

I’d be shocked if Cuse doesn’t win by 3+ scores.
