2024 Holiday Bowl- Syracuse vs. Washington State December 27th, 8pm ET

Really feel for the fans of Washington State. They have had a brutal last 12 months or so.
Yeah if they weren’t playing us I would feel really bad, I am happy we will have that much better of a chance to smash them now, I don’t care about details of who was depleted, 10 wins sells. But, yes, they and OSU got so screwed, two good programs that just didn’t have the proverbial curb appeal to “waste” a share of the pie, even a reduced one like Cal and Stanford got.

Honestly I think the ACC should have taken them. Keep the Mountain West intact and avoid this bastardized PAC Whatever Number.

I think the ACC didn’t want to share any more of their smaller than the Big 2 pie. Maybe if they were willing to take an SMU deal but they aren’t SMU so I am sure they would have said no to that

There really should not be an equal payout to bowl teams if they can’t deliver a quality product. That applies to us last year as well. Looking like this one may be a slaughter of the innocents …

totally agree. Let's get to 10 wins and take the PR cred. We're taking our beating in hoops so we can relish this advantage without feeling overly greedy :)

I'm just glad things are shaping up for us to be the party doing the bloodying, as opposed to the party getting bloodied.

I don't think the link will work because it's Facebook but SUFB just shared a post two hours ago of Kyle being interviewed at the Georgetown game and he said playing in the bowl was a group decision.

I legit don't think there will be ANY high profile opt outs. We're bringing the house, believe that.

Let's get win #10 folks.

Have seen the same rumors. 1.5M to 2M to go to Oklahoma.
What if Syracuse paid the $1.5/$2M to Mateer. We have a need in 2025 and could get him out of this upcoming game. No chance, I know. But it could happen--portal directly influencing a game result. For example, what if Penn State did that to SMU and Boise St. Offer huge money to get key players to portal to them for 2025 AND keep them out of a playoff game. This could get ugly.

BTW... what stops Kyle from entering the portal? It is possible he will get an appeal granted. If someone wants to pay him, what's the problem? It's not pay for play, right? Surely, you can pay someone NOT to play. Come.. be our QB coach next year (unless you get drafted, in which case you can buyout for $1). In years, I could see someone entering the portal as a Senior with no eligibility just to get paid to NOT play in an upcoming playoff game. Tampering between these teams. Talk about wild west...

This is an absolutely wild take but at the same time makes so much sense, why wouldn’t a team try this. We’re talking the playoffs. You do everything you can and donors definitely get more excited with the prospect of winning “the big one”. I’d love to see this play out honestly, just to see how broken CFB can actually get.

If Washington State opts out somehow, why can't we just play Army?
