2024 MLB Season

I'm not saying the D-backs got screwed...

That's why I snap at my fellow Yankee fans who blow off early losses saying "it's only April". All games matter. I'm not going through their schedule but over the course of 162 there are some games the D'backs fans can point to that the team let get away. I believe the snakes final game vs. the Mets the bullpen coughed it up. Bottom line for any crying Arizona fans is win more games.

I'm not sure if its an ESPN thing, or an issue with Sportsnet (Canada) picking up the ESPN feed, but my sound is horrible for this Detroit/KC game.

There was some analysts that thought Detroit should have traded Tarik Skubal at the deadline, because they were still far from their window.

Good thing they are not GM's.

In fairness, they were 8 games back in August. But talking heads gotta talk. :)

They were very reasonable to think they had no chance in 2024 (even if they were wrong), but why did they think the Tigers should be giving up on 2025 and 2026 at the 2024 trade deadline, by giving up stars that are not even pending free agents.

A team that is 52-58 at the deadline, in the current 12 team format can relatively easily be a playoff team the next year in this format, especially if they have some youth. As evidenced by the surprise teams that made the playoffs this year (either young or not even that young).

Well looks like the Jays are keeping the crapheads at the top (Shatkins) and their donk manager Schneider.

Got rid of their hitting coach finally (should have happened last year) and took the "offensive co-ordinator" rule away from Don Mattingly, whose hitting approach is from another era.

But those are the type of moves that should have happened at the end of last year where our offensive fall-off from most of our players was happening, and not now, I guess we know why Shatkins didn't do them last year ... so they can keep some cards in their hands to play at the end of 2024 if things went wrong.

Its great that Rogers (Jays owner) is finally investing heavy dollars into the team, and rewarded the fans with a much better stadium experience... but Rogers is doing a major disservice to the fans, and ultimately a major disservice to themselves by keeping these two twats at the top around to build the roster.

I guess one might believe the package one would acquire in return for a young star under team control could be franchise altering.

They talk in riddles and corporate gunk. It’s sickening. There are about 15 hitting coaches. No wonder hitters get paralyzed

Dodgers/Friars a banger of a series. My buddy will be in SD on a work trip next week and is going to go on Tuesday. I am very jealous. I get why Padres aren't taken too seriously but they are freaking loaded.

Guardians put up a 5 spot in the first and kill the Tigers quickly. Skubal in Game 2 and lined up Game 5. If he can win both can Detroit get another one?

It doesn't get much better than these two NLDS series

There's a sentiment out there that baseball needs the Yanks/Dodgers world Series. It was even expressed above in this thread. The narrative that all baseball fans need, want or should want a Yankees-Dodger world series is nonsense.

If you want the Yanks to win that's fine. If you want the Dodgers that's fine. If you want the Yankees-Dodgers that is fine too. And more fans (even though its well less than 50%) want that final than other permutation, so TV wants that - but its still not a majority of fans.

I have spent less time hating the Yankees than I usually do because of my Red Sox boycott but last nights game has brought the hatred-fueled passion back into my life

What was up with Rodon last night? Was he a MLB pitcher or was he repping WWE? You knew he would be spent after 3-4 innings.
