2024 NFL Thread

The Roger’s move was so obviously going to end in disaster.
Never thought I’d cheer for a patriots team to beat the Jets, but that’s what Aaron brings. Can’t stand him. Delighted to see him failing.

Saw an crazy stat today:
Detroit Lions—— “They have more offensive touchdowns (24) than incompletions (19) over their last five games”

Goff is balling.

Unrelated—anybody else becoming a ‘fan’ of some player just based on those recent Netflix football shows? Quarterback and Receiver? It’s good to get some of that personality stuff. Started, for me, with the Formula 1 show, Drove to Survive. And then tennis with Break Point.

Goff has been so efficient but as my fantasy qb it’s been awful. Today for example, he was downright perfect yet got me 16 pts. Seeing the score I expected 30 pts but he’s doing what he needs to to put the Lions in a great position. Hats off to him and the team

Good to see the 49ers getting right in the second half

Lots of Western New York peeps in Seattle this week! Talked to folks from all over. Eventually just started asking "where are you from?" Two full charter package jets arrived Thursday afternoon, and they've been going strong all week. A guy from Orchard Park said they had a tailgate at 9:30 am today. Glad they got the W for their efforts.

Almost gave it away, but Dak came through. But that 4th down play was dang close to PI
Yeah, I thought it should have been called. They excuse the ‘feet tangle’ thing when players are running in series or parallel, but this time, the defender was approaching from behind, right? So, isn’t it incumbent upon him to avoid contact?

Unless they thought he was making a play on the ball

Cowboys are now such habitual losers that I don't enjoy each loss as much as I used to.

Still enjoy 'em, though...

Dallas played so bad.. Then they played so well.. Then Dak made 4 bad throws and the game was over.

I don't think that last play is not PI except on an end of game type play. He clearly hit him beyond just saying the feet tangled.

You run that play 2nd quarter and its PI all day.

Much like the last TD the Bears scored. the dude tackled the WR at the 1. But they ruled him down and it was no call.. Had he dropped it with no call that would have been bad. The tackle happened before the ball was caught.

That hail mary. everyone get so caught with tip it tip it. Not that easy.

I am amazed that these guys mis judge so many of these long throws though. Still once the ball goes in front of the end zone dont follow it and leave a guy all alone.

Jets up 16-14 late 3rd quarter I grabbed the Patriots love ML at +400. Thank you Jets for Jetsing. Didn't change the outcome but there was a play where the Raiders defender stupidly bumped into Mahomes well after the golden boy released the ball and got called for it. My problem is in the first half a lineman took two steps after Minshew threw the ball and drilled him in the back with no flag. You know if teams were reversed that gets called. I concede the Raiders defender was dumb for getting near the QB and it was within the rules to throw the flag, just call it both ways man.

But, he was behind the receiver. Even in making a play on the ball, you’re not permitted to go through the other player. The ‘tangled feet exception’ is meant for incidental/accidental contact as two players are moving through unoccupied position. I dunno—it’s all so ambiguous. I’ve never heard that rule actually explained, only applied.

There’s already so much hand fighting allowed when the ball is in the air, you could call interference on either player on almost every pass. It’s ludicrous that refs have to decide what contact is meaningful or not. I liked it better in olden times when defenders couldn’t touch and receivers couldn’t push off.

The feet tangle thing is so stupid. A cagey Db coach should just teach his guys a technique to create entanglements “accidentally on purpose” and you’d have an entire core of shut down corners

You like that!!

Yeah, I thought he was all holy and whatnot. This does not check out.
I mentioned this yesterday in the thread ! I was not hallucinating!

Wilson and Rodgers have one thing in common. Both guys used their mobility very effectively in the past by moving around in the pocket, particularly Wilson as it helped him see over the taller linemen in front of him. Now he can no longer do that (nor can Rodgers) and isn't the threat he used to be to break your back with a 15 yard scramble.

Wilson seems to be much better than Rogers at this point.

Rodgers has played poorly. He also may have the worst OL in the entire NFL.
I’ve heard that about 10 different teams, looking for an exscuse for their crap Qb play

Well, when you have to spend all your money on an aging qb, this is what you get
