2024 NFL Thread

Dear god watching this game is painful. 83% of the commentary from Romo today has been:

"If I'm Buffalo I do the tush-push. I do it 2 times."
"If I'm the Bills I do the tush-push the next 12 plays."
"If I'm Buffalo I do the tush-push the next 4 plays. You have to. Nobody can stop it."
"If I'm Buffalo I do the tush-push the next 18 plays. Having a big QB is so huge. The Eagles and Bills have that. I do the tush-push the next 5 plays."
"Tush-push."
"If I'm the Bills I'm going with the tush-push the next 6 plays. Baltimore is one of maybe two teams that can stop it. Still, if I'm the Bills right here I do it anyway, I do the tush-push the next 3 plays."
"If I'm Josh Allen I just do the tush-push the next 28 plays."

Kill me.
I rarely criticize the announcers and color guys. Most of 'em in the playoffs are pretty good

But Romo was damn near unlistenable. I think I even detected Nantz losing his patience with him.

They did seem to take a toll, but who knows. I'm just going by the commentators constantly talking about how decimated their defense was...

I kinda laughed when their trick play backfired...I have grown tired of the "OMG, look what the Lions did there!" after 2 seasons of seeing them get a first down on 2nd and 1 by having Goff hand it off to Gibbs who throws a lateral to St Brown who hands it off to Montgomery who then does a fake punt before throwing it to LaPorta.

At times it feels like they just be overcomplicating things a bit at this point.
I see the fakes/misdirection's as productive Ghost and also it forces the D to be aware of things outside the norm and opens things up for their playmakers. It will fail as nothing is 100% but still it is fun as a fan to watch and I do enjoy the big guys getting TD's.

The problem was the Lions ran the trick play when they didnt need it. Aggressive for sure but it wasnt like they couldnt move the ball.

Anyone else share my frustration with bad weather in the playoffs? I think it stinks that outdoor game conditions are relatively the same throughout the entire season and now, when it matters most in the playoffs, they have to deal with this crap.

Eagles/Rams started off really well with both offenses looking good. Now it’s like watching guys hold on to a wet bar of soap and slip all over the place.

Sucks the weather had to act up this weekend. Diminishes the game IMO.
To me, there's something romantic about a football game in bad weather. I get it though; it definitely changes the way you play.

I agree. For a team with a tough guy coach they run a lot of show biz stuff.

Ben Johnson to the Bears. It had sounded like he wanted the Raiders job. I wonder if Vegas is being left open for Primetime and son.

Johnson is hoping to add Dennis Allen as his D coordinator. That gives a good defensive guy who also has head coaching experience experience.

After holding out last year why would he want the Raiders job? That's the worst one out there. No QB, a stacked division, and one of the worst fail son owners.

From what I heard/read it was about the Tom Brady effect.

Raiders one-upping the rest of the AFC West and hiring a septuagenarian. Everyone else looking for the new hotness. AFC west dialing it back to 2012.

As a cowboys fan I can only laugh at the Schottenheimer decision. What a joke. Bottom of the NFC East battle with the Giants for years to come.

Worst run franchise in the league. Al Davis 2.0
it really goes to show it’s one of the least desirable jobs in the NFL, if not the least other than the Saints. They both have the two worst GM’s in the NFL and the coaches know it.

Saints will probably hire McCarthy or take a wild swing at someone who Is willing to deal with the Loomis nonsense. He’s just such a joke.

As an Iggles fan, I can only laugh at the Schottenheimer decision as well.

Schottenheimer is not even a good offensive coordinator. His scheme is outdated by a couple of decades.

Not sure I agree to be honest since they literally didn't even try to interview candidates with a pulse.

Would be a really funny outcome if Shotty ends up being a good HC though

As long as Jerry jones is the GM and doing the hiring I don’t think it matters much. He’s not hiring anyone with a pulse and everybody knows it. He needs to be the center of attention. A lot of football people like Shotty. I’m actually rooting for him because the media is so opposed to it. Would be a great story. Just because he’s not the best OC doesn’t mean he can’t be a solid HC, different skill sets. Much like Ben Johnson could be a dog of a hc

Saints same deal as long as Loomis is still there nobody worth hiring wants that job. Ms Benson needs to fire him like she did Dennis Allen. Loomis wasn’t going to do it because it would have meant he was dead wrong. His arrogance has no limits at this point

At least the Giants didn’t overpay for a running back
As a Giants fan, it’s depressing, but happy Saquon got to go somewhere that’s not a dumpster fire.

Not a big fan of going for 2 there. Don't need to chase points before halftime.
