2025-26 NBA

What's the equivalent to Vinny breaking your legs when you get in to deep with your bookie when you're an online gambler?

The app installs a virus on your phone and makes it so you can only receive calls and not make them, and none of your apps work?

I'm saying, what's the protocol here?
I think you have to have the amount of money you bet in your online account. Not 100% sure on that though.

Ah, so you're saying you get the cash from a loan shark, deposit it in your bank account, move the $$$ to your gambling app, and then Vinny comes and breaks your legs?

2 more than KD has without Steph. Steph also owns a 3-1 series comeback against KD. I think 2 things can be true. KD at his peak is better than Curry, but Curry is the better and more influential player all time and I don’t think it’s much of an argument.
Debate wasn't Steph vs KD.

Aaron Gordon 17-21 fg and 10-11 from 3. 50 pts.
and they lost.
A quick AI query: Team win % when a player scores 50+ points.

Short answer: about 73%.

Longer: historically, teams win a little over seven out of ten when someone on their team hits 50+. A 2021 tally had 418 wins in 576 such games (72.6%). In the recent scoring boom (e.g., 25 fifty-burgers in 2022–23, the most since the 1960s), that basic “~three-quarters win” rate hasn’t materially changed.

So I had to check. Per basketball reference, there have been 627 50 point games in NBA history. I see 456 wins, for a 72.7% win rate. So, good job AI!

If I counted correctly (questionable!) there have been 5 games in NBA history where each team had a guy score 50 in a game; 4 of them included Wilt Chamberlain, and 3 of those 4 were Wilt and Elgin Baylor. The other was 12/6/2000, Antawn Jamison and Kobe.

I wonder what the win % is for players that shot over 100% TS% on like decent volume (like maybe 30+ points in said game). I have to imagine it's incredibly high lol.

GRRRRRR!

30 points and over 100% TS has happened 132 times in NBA history; 109-23 when that happens.

There have been 4 50 point games with a TS over 100%, Aaron Gordon was the only L. 54 is the most anyone has scored with a TSP over 100%, Fred Van Vleet 2/2/21. (2021 was the fake year, no crowds most of the time).
If you look at 40 points and above, it's happened 16 times, with the team being 14-2. (Myles Turner did it in a loss against Boston in 2023).
Amazingly enough, it happened first in 1981, Bill Cartwright had 31 points on 6/7 from the field and 19/19 from the line.

There's the list, I'm taking nominees for funniest name to see showing up. I'll throw out Sandro Mamukelasvili, who did it against the Knicks last year in a game I watched. Honestly maybe the best game I have seen, in 19 minutes he had 34 point on 13/14 shooting (7/7 from 3!). It was insane

I think Sandro is probably the winner, but Dalton Knecht doing it as a rookie while simultaneously having what seems to be negative trade value is kind of incredible. Some honorable mentions: Nemanja Bjelica, Justin Champagnie, Trajan Langdon, whoever Richie Frahm is, my goat Ersan Ilyasova, and one of my favorite role players of his time, Arron Afflalo.

Shoutout Richie Frahm, I remember him from the first Gonzaga teams back in the late 90s.

I watched less NBA last year than I have in my life. Probably won’t watch a lot this year except for good prime time games especially if Wemby is on. I’ll watch playoffs when it truly matters.

Hell of a start to the year though. I’m more intrigued now than I’ve been in years with this gambling stuff.

Billups is absolutely screwed. Tbh he should be concerned for his well being if these reports about mafia involvement are true.

This is like a gangster movie.

I'm just in awe of Wemby. He has a very unusual body so I hope he can avoid any major injuries long-term. I think he's the most unique NBA player since Shaq. What he can do on a basketball court is unlike anything I've ever seen, and he's like 5-6 years away from entering his prime.

Aside from, ya know, the FBI crackdown, the NBA has to extremely happy with how the season has started. Like half the nationally televised games have gone into overtime. Wemby looking like he's officially arrived. Steph and Jokic doing their thing. Been awesome so far.

SGA's 40 free throw attempts in two games are more than the Warriors (the only other team that has played 2 games). His 20 attempts per game are as much or more than the Jazz, Bucks, Wizards, Cavs and Nuggets.

He's got that champion aura now.
