2025 ACC Football Schedule

Looked at my schedule and SU's schedule.

My away tailgate schedule

SMU
GaTech
Miami
I’ve already done GT (great experience despite a loss), thinking I’ll do definitely do SMU and then either ND or Miami

Complaining about the schedule is ridiculous. Two byes after game six. Home away basically alternating.

Its fine
Agree. I think that's the default reaction every year, and sometimes it's justified. But we knew the teams we were playing and it was going to be tough. We have a home game every month. Sure the Friday night games aren't great for some. but you have 8-9 months to schedule your PTO for that Friday if that's the issue. Every power conference except the SEC is doing Friday night games now

I think the schedule came out about as good as we could have hoped for. It isn't great for us or horrible.

No one can say we ducked the big guys this season.

Biggest quibble is BC getting a bye the second last weekend of the year while we play at ND. But given what the ACC did to BC, things could have been worse.

I consider any year with less than seven home games a fail for SUAD. I understand the giant payday playing in the kickoff classic brings and with the financial pressures on SUAD right now, John had to do it.

But as a fan, I care about what is best for the program and selfishly, what is best for me. But that I mean what value I get for my season tickets.

I will miss going to a seventh home game. Hopefully we get seven home games next season. That looks extremely unlikely at this time unfortunately.

For the die hard fans it doesn't really matter who or when we play. I will be at every home game. I like Friday games. But for the casuals and students, having a balanced schedule makes a difference. Not everyone can make a Friday game. So when you have an 8 week stretch with only one Saturday game, casual fans and students will check out. They are not engaged. When you have too many home games grouped together, it is overexposure for these types of fans. It is harder to build a fanbase with these ACC schedules.

For the actual team, having three home games that we really should win early will help get us off to a fast start. It is a competitive advantage. But then only having 2 over the next 8 weeks will be rough for the team. Last year we were great on the road. I don't expect that to carry over again.

There is no logical reason for the ACC to schedule the way it does. The Notre Dame games are scheduled by the ACC. When a team has ND at H, that gives them 5 H and 4 A. In that case the team should start and end at H while alternating in between. They should never have 2 H or 2 A in a row. That keeps the schedule balanced. Instead BC starts and ends A. Which means in between they have 5 H and 2 A, completely imbalanced.

And vice versa for the teams that have Notre Dame A. They should start and end A. SU ending with BC at H brings imbalance. Really we should end ND A, BC H, Miami A.

Edit

To expand on the BC example, attending games is a time commitment. They have an 6 week stretch with 5 home games. Even for a die hard fan it is hard to commit 5 out of the next 6 Saturdays to attending a game.

BC plays at Stanford on 9-13. The next 10 weeks they play 6 H, 2 A, and have 2 Byes before ending at Cuse. And one of the A is at Pitt. So they have only one non Northeastern game over the last 11 weeks. That is a huge competitive advantage if they can survive weeks 2 and 3.

On the plus side: the Halloween night game should have a huge turnout of students.

At least until halftime...I'll let myself out the room

Why is someone whining about a second Friday game. Did you not see the student section for us the last couple home games. Might as well tune up Colgate at night.

With one of them being on Halloween I really doubt that students will show up for a Friday night Halloween game.

The parties will be far more exciting for them then attending the football game.

Also, all parents with younger kids will be out as well.

The University is going to have to get creative with that game to ensure attendance is okay.

I know for me personally with a 3 year old it knocks me out for UNC and it’s non negotiable

I’ll be skeptical if they even make it to halftime with Halloween.

One of my buddies that has 3 young children has already said he can’t go.

We could set up a tailgate trunk or treat for JJ at the lot.

Nell will have the good stuff
Jeremy's Mom has those football jello shots
Lincolncuse will bring some hard candies and dum dum's from the bank's candy basket to share.

It'll be great

Go on.

A-B-H-A-H-A-B-A

8 week stretch
4 A
2 B
2 H with only one Saturday

Where my mind goes when I look at that post

Pretty sure you can expect a concert on the weekend of Sept 13-14 at the dome. Hence the Colgate game move to Friday

Yikes not sure I agree with that move if that’s the case

I think the students will show up for the first half at least.

Pregame, go get rowdy at the game for awhile. If it's a good game, maybe stay?

Young families, no bueno on that night.

Billie Eilish is starting a big tour in September

My guess is it's TV driven.

On Saturday you have the following for ABC/ESPN/ESPN2/ACCN/SECN inventory:
Wisco at Bama
Florida at LSU
Arkansas at Ole Miss
Vandy at SC
Georgia at Tenn
UTEP at Texas
BC at Stanford
Clemson at GT
Backyard Brawl
Minn at Cal
Duke at Tulane
USF at Miami
Plus Big XII games (don't see their schedule out)
Plus some big SEC brands playing mediocre opponents that probably get deference for network.

Probably had to move it to get it on linear TV and off the app.

Not being a parent, I didn't even consider the Halloween aspect but that's a very good point I didn't fully consider. That's a good thing about this board is getting perspectives you might not have thought about and occasionally saying "I was wrong"

C'mon. Any student that leaves a good game at halftime is a half-assed fan anyway. You are "out"... not like people have to watch the game from the library. Not like the events/bars will not be open after the game.

Sounds like we should hire the guy who does their scheduling
Seriously. Blame the AD on this one. If you want Tennessee, get rid of ND. If you want ND, skip Tennessee. Reward your fans and the team with home games. This team will be bouncing back and forth between home and the deep South all year. And then they get ND in South Bend in November. Just stupid scheduling.

Meanwhile, Rutgers is playing Ohio (not state), Miami (OH, not Florida), and Norfolk St. And you can be sure the B1G is not having them play away games at all five of Oregon, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, and Indiana.

The dome is going after more concerts. Moving Colgate makes financial sense. That game isn’t moving the needle on tickets or hotel rooms.
yup. i did notice the hotel chains were much faster in price gouging this year with the schedule. normally they take a few days. maybe they just blocked out more weekends or use more automated tools now. i normally book right away but i'm holding off. the insane prices won't remain.
