thats not the rule. he was being hit and the ball went backwards that doesnt make it a backwards pass when he was clearly trying to throw it forwards.

It didn’t help that he really didn’t throw it. He tried to do a two hand push. It’s arguable it would have just gone sideways or slightly backward anyway. The hit to the arm changed the trajectory to clearly backwards.

Really weird play. I think they should have stuck with intentional grounding and Vrabel would have challenged.

Thats the problem.

Say he was in the pocket and he starts his arm 1 inch forward and the ball comes out behind him. they would 100% of the time say forward pass. Same rule applies here when contact happens.

Just came from the game. Absolute brutal conditions. I’ve been to hundreds of games, that was the worst, between snow, wind, cold.

I guess I’m the only one on the planet that agreed to go for it on that 4th down in real time.
AFC chip, backup qb, pedal to the metal.

Also, the play was ruled incomplete pass, then we hear, “after a discussion on the field”. W the fuq??

That 9+ minute FG drive by the Pats was critical. It ate up time while the weather was still good. They got the lead, and neither team could do anything in the snow.

Analytics say go for it there. Only reason not to is if you think points are at a premium and they were.
Yeah no problem analyzing, that was just my real time honest reaction. I was the only person I heard agreeing with it though.

The 500 people that will show up for the Rams Super Bowl parade if they win it all are mildly flustered right now.

And it was only a matter of time. The Seattle secondary has been chirping all game long.
