2025 PLL Season

Stevens with the score - he's getting runs on the first midfield line. Under review though.

am i wrong or was that hiltz on side in huddle of timeout on choas last pos of game?

Why no shoulder pads in the PLL? Is rough play discouraged? All about looks? To me it looks like glorified club ball.

Some players are starting to wear them again but yeah, many don't for whatever reason.

I do agree that having pads might help it look more official. And be safer.

shoulder pads don't provide any protection really other than the now chestplate for commotio cordis(sic). and even that is extremely dubious scientifically.

Shoulder pads don’t really provide protection? This has to be the dumbest post I’ve ever read on here.

ok, skippy. i take it you've played a lot of lacrosse games. they don't. which is why the majority of high-end (and other) players once aged out of nc$$ don't wear them. and haven't for decades, not a new phenomenon.

This is nonsensical. Any amount of padding provides more protection than no padding. They don’t wear them because of feel, look, etc. (vanity).

same with cutting palms out on gloves. Every other sport players wear gloves that help improve grip, but in lacrosse …

Players are getting bigger, faster, stronger. They shoot harder. Wearing less protection makes less and less sense as gear gets lighter and more flexible, and athletes get more forceful.

I think players will say that as skill level increases, pads are less necessary because sticks and checks are less arbitrary and therefore coverage is less necessary.

Exactly. Getting whacked on the shoulder is not going to slow you down. The so called chest protection on older shoulder pads is very thin and would provide nothing in a situation where the ball is coming at you at 90mph. You never see them in any live game action post college whether it is summer league or pros. Maybe a conversation to be had about players actually protecting their chest when playing lacrosse due to the obvious risks of getting hit with the ball, but actual padding covering the shoulder area has been unnecessary for a long time in the field game.

Granted I never played in any sort of pro league, but I have never worn them at any time post-college. On attack all I ever want padded up is my elbow and funny-bone area. The rest you gotta suck it up. Box lacrosse is another story.

they're not even shoulder pads any longer, they are chest pads. no plastic other than chestplate. just thin layers of foam. help with scratches and abrasions, but even on the shoulder other than about 2-3 inches each side.

here is the tl;dr on chestplates:
biggest risk group by far for commotio cordis is around ages 12-15.
testing for chestplates by nocsae before mandated? done @ about 35 mph.

there was no scientific data that could conclude they were going to help in the event of 60, 80+ mph shot at the chest at the exact wrong time.

maybe they do, maybe they don't. the rest of the pad nowadays is thin foam. and a thin strip now on the shoulder as well.

I’ve played in many lacrosse games. Anyone “aged out” playing on offense is a fool not to wear shoulder pads. I can assure you they’ve saved my collarbones on a number of occasions. But you’re tough guy who doesn’t need pads. I bet you can’t see your toes underneath your gut either. Lol.

keep going with the insults? nothing about today's most used chestpads is saving a collarbone. not a tough guy, just been doing the same thing 70-90% of my peers have been doing for a long time. don't have a gut, either, not sure how that applies. you sound mad.

You sound like a clown. Probably an old hack. Explain why shoulder pads are required in NCAA’s?

explain why they're not required in every professional outdoor, club league, open men's tournament or usa tryout (or games) for ages?
get padded up!

You didn’t answer the question.

Like I said, to me it looks like a glorified club league.

I noticed many of the defensive players at the final four went without any form of elbow pad or pulled them up completely above the elbow. Sure it helps with flexibility but you’re done for if you take a good shot to the elbow.

Well there ya go they have to wear least a chest plate as tucci got flagged for not having anything. So they do have something as it’s a new rule.

Also man stevens has to finish it looks had some really good looks this weekend n of course his only goal was a low angle backhand flip shot. Misses the better looks but drills the flashy goal the syracuse way lol jk
