2025 Preseason Camp Thread

Agreed, Malachi James' father mentioned on twitter that he thought they were both very good and was hard to choose who was better. This staff has a tough decision
They really do. It's a photo finish and I expect to see both kids playing the first few games. I could actually see Fran going with the hot hand in games.

Giving up 170 yards on 7 carries is not a great sign for the defense though. The long runs were an issue last year.
His runs were not against the 1's. But, they finally found ways to get him in space and his speed was dominant. He is literally one of if not the fastest players in the entire country. Could be a huge asset that Flys under the radar.

We lost Diggs, Barron, Clark, Wax, Bellamy, Watson, Lewis from a team that couldnt tackle, was undisciplined, couldnt stop the run and let up huge plays. TI dont see how the defense will be better against even better teams.
In fairness it was the first year with a new system and some of the players were forced to play out of position. Also, when you lose players, you replace them. The D Line as a whole is drastically upgraded and thats where run defense starts. Marlowe was hurt for half the year so that was also a huge issue. Gary Bryant would have been the second best LB on the team last year and is going to be a very suitable replacement for Wax. The secondary is much deeper and the young guys had a full year to gain needed size and strength. This team is going to be significantly more physical.

All starts up front!!!!!

DT is upgraded yes but we still only have 3 pass rushers with them all being worse then Diggs. Jaquez and David O have a combined 4.5 sacks in there whole careers. Bryant very well could be the guy but he hasnt proven it on P4. McDonald, Sparrow or Heard havent shown anything that inspires confidence. Even if the secondary is deeper on paper that doesnt mean the high end talent is better. Demtres is a reclass true freshman, Kerr got a year under his belt and Peal hasnt played. Youre projecting the best case scenario with a lot of hope rather then proven production.

You're conveniently leaving out Reese, who is our best pass rusher on paper and has produced on the field.

Reese had 11.5 sacks at an ACC School. Diggs had 7.5 last year. Diggs is a dawg but played out of position a lot last year. Mcdonald has proven on the field. He had a strong 2023. You also give no freshman credit. There are some freshman on this team who are physically ready to play. Deslauriers is going to get reps at LB and Nyandoro and D End. Samuels talents trump his age. Anyone asked about him says that. I didn't project anything in my prior post, I stated facts. There's a difference.

I said 3 pass rushers and he is not as good as Diggs
And then named the guys without production and left out the guy with production. And whether or not he is as good as Diggs, I think he has a decent shot of being more productive as a pass rusher this year than Diggs was since Diggs had to spend a decent chunk of the season helping fill in for Wax.

Surprised if true, not that I would be mad that its Angeli but for him to come in and win the job in a short amount of time is somewhat of an upset IMO.

And smart of us to leak it to him, too. Get some national attention. Local guys will cover it the same either way.
Pete and Fran are very close. Pete is a mentor/advisor to Fran to some ways.

Any big news coming from SU football is going to be reported first by Thamel. He is definitely purely Fran’s guy.

If Pete is saying it, it is legit.

It is great to hear that the competition was very close. We all know things can change quickly and having two qualified highly regarded QBs is a great thing.

Unless Pete is part of a big misdirection from Fran…..
