2026 Potential Roster / Portal Entries

Kyle covered up a lot of issues that lingered
Angeli was likely going to do so again this year. The state of the QB room really laid everything bare, brightest light imaginable illuminating all the problems, directly or indirectly.

As bad as this season was, I almost feel like it’s good that it happened. They know what they need to compete and know what they need to change from a coaching standpoint and player standpoint. Sometimes getting some humble pie ends up being very rewarding and I think this will be the case next year and a few more to come. Some of the conversations I’ve had with the guys really close to football are really excited and that’s all I need to hear …

Humble pie was BC's season which despite 2-10 they were competitive in 7 of those Ls. We were NOT competitive in any of our 9 Ls. There is nothing rewarding in that.

case in point. Boston College trailed the Irish 12-7 at their halftime. 18 -10 going into the 4th.
BC played against ND's 1st team all game. our game was over 5 minutes in. we played their scrubs.

No this is the mood until next season ;) no positivity allowed!!!!!

Cook led the team in both receiving yards and receptions, and you’re calling him a massive disappointment? If that’s the bar, then what does that make Gill? Meeks had the luxury of an NFL QB for a whole season, while Cook only had a real quarterback for four games. Cook is a better NFL prospect than Meeks. And now you’re tossing out claims about him dropping balls or getting run down from behind? Go ahead and cite specific examples, because I’d love to go back and check the film. I sure didn’t see that.

Neither Cook and Gill did that great per PFF, fwiw

"Juniors Johntay Cook II and Darrell Gill Jr., Syracuse’s leading wide receivers, led the team in drops with six and four, respectively. PFF gave Gill the blame for five interceptions and Cook for two. Cook also had three fumbles to Gill’s one."

I know the qb play was horrendous but Gill didn’t do much to help out either. Great receivers elevated their quarterbacks. Gill can be great I think. He needs to find a way to get a little stronger. Still gets pushed out of the play too often.
For example Bond from BC has put up solid career numbers with a ton of average quarterbacks.

Gill made some great catches until Steve went down. People tend to forget after the wheels came off. He also saved the game at Clemson when he broke up a pass Ricky basically threw to the Clemson DB.
There was no qb after Steve, not even an average qb. Cook got the most receptions because it seemed like Collins only targeted him.

Yeah he has a lot of potential but I don’t think he, and our WR room this year, was quite as good as people think. Not to blame them for the hideous QB play by any means.

Just a note, those PFF numbers aren’t assigning blame for the INT’s - just that those players were the targeted receiver on the INT.

They were very banged up more than people realize. Heck Villari was in a walking boot a lot this year that nobody ever heard about but played through it all year.

Yep, every QB outside of Angeli didn't have the ability to throw outside the numbers. Cook being in the slot kept him getting some yardage, but the outside throws stopped occuring with the backups.

kinda shocked we have not seen anyone here hit the portal yet..
I was toying with the idea of hitting the portal after the thumping we took from ND and the egg we laid against BC but after talking with God, my family, my therapist and the bartender at Coleman's, that I have been around to long to bail at this point. So I will be staying a Syracuse fan for the foreseeable future. RESPECT MY DECISION!

Portal doesn't open for D1 until January 2nd. Coaches probably haven't had the talk with anyone yet.

They (Fran and players) have been talking for weeks. Often negotiating new revenue sharing and or NIL deals for those players Fran wants to keep.

although the portal doesn’t officially open for another month players can announce their intent to enter the portal so other teams can begin the evaluation process.

Yes, they can announce but they can't enter yet which was the question.
