That’s true, I should have said viable is usually best case scenarioThat is not true. A few years ago Michigan couldn’t complete a forward pass after their qb went down.

We can assess that the QB room was an all time dumpster fire. That’s somethingI don't really know how you can assess anything in the passing game from the final 8 games.
You do realize most programs, even elite ones, don’t have elite QB2s, right? Viable is the norm. What we have seen this year is obscene

Its the drops that I'm assessing, and getting caught from behind. I think he's solid, but losing Gill would be a bigger loss imo. I like receivers who can make contested catchesI don't really know how you can assess anything in the passing game from the final 8 games.
I now know another person to skip their posts.Dude your overly emotional. 549 yards receiving isn't some superstar. Meeks was multitudes better player than cook, and nobody hyped him near to same level. If you disagree, cool, but you've been on a run of emotional posting.
Your claiming he didn't drop balls; he dropped one yesterday, any ball not perfectly thrown was more likely a drop. He was a bad contested catch/ball not placed well catcher. He got run down multiple times when Angeli was playing. Believe me or don't I don't care. I just found him pretty overrated by the fanbase, and it seems most see the 5 star rating and think he's an automatic stud.Cook led the team in both receiving yards and receptions, and you’re calling him a massive disappointment? If that’s the bar, then what does that make Gill? Meeks had the luxury of an NFL QB for a whole season, while Cook only had a real quarterback for four games. Cook is a better NFL prospect than Meeks. And now you’re tossing out claims about him dropping balls or getting run down from behind? Go ahead and cite specific examples, because I’d love to go back and check the film. I sure didn’t see that.
Im heartbrokenI now know another person to skip their posts.
I don’t recall who was recruited from where and when in a lot of cases. Bottom line, how many Dino guys left here?

You make some legitimate points, but repeatedly throwing around the word clown, etc. isn't exactly helping your cause. Maybe just step back a little and keep making your points? Or just do you.He led the team in receiving yards. Massive disappointment?! Clown.
100%!Fair enough. I’ll dial it back... but don't mistake that for backing down.
That’s most of the top guys we would want to have back. Like you said, let’s get a new DC, new OL coach etcSo just to clear some things up. This is who has said themselves or our board has said is returning.

If so, that’s a very good start. Especially if we have a new DC.
Dude, your just throwing crap against the wall. Never said he sucked, nor did I say I didn't want him back. I am of the opinion he is overrated as a superstar and drops too many balls. Calling him at his best 2024 Pena isn't a slight. I just saw too many drops and being caught from behind to label him a superstar. At this point I'd be shocked if he was a first rounder, I'd say ceiling is late rounder maybe mid round at the tip top the way he's played through the three years, and three separate teams. Id love to be wrong, but as of now he doesn't strike me as a game breaking wr.No, I don’t buy it. You’re exaggerating. Cook saw playing time in EVERY game as a TRUE freshman at Texas. That’s TEXAS, a team that finished the year ranked #3 in the AP Poll. The only reason he didn’t start right away was because the two guys ahead of him were Xavier Worthy (1st round pick) and AD Mitchell (2nd round pick), both now in the NFL.
Fast forward to 2024, another team that finished ranked #4 in the AP Poll. Cook was slated to start until two more upperclassman transfers showed up, Matthew Golden (1st round) from Houston and Isaiah Bond from Alabama, both now NFL players. Even then he still saw action in every game before his mid‑season dismissal.
Then he came to Syracuse and was an unquestioned starter from Day 1.
So yeah, I’ll take Steve Sarkisian’s and Fran Brown’s assessment of Cook’s talent over yours any day.
I saw the same thing as you but almost all his targets were thrown behind him or low. After a while that has to be frustrating and destroy any flow, leading to more drops.Dude, your just throwing crap against the wall. Never said he sucked, nor did I say I didn't want him back. Second your appeal to authority regarding Fran and Sarkisian opinion of Cook is a lame way to quash debate. It's a sports board, people are able to disagree, and if that is the standard I look forward to your 100 percent agreement with coaches decision going forward. And to be honest if he was a bonafide first rounder, Sarkisian would have done what's needed to retain him, or the Washington coach...
Yea, I agree it's not easy. I think to get the superstar moniker he needs to come down with more bad throws. Hopefully he proves me wrong.I saw the same thing as you but almost all his targets were thrown behind him or low. After a while that has to be frustrating and destroy any flow, leading to more drops.
Definitely more coaching changes. OL being really crucial. That’s most of the top guys we would want to have back. Like you said, let’s get a new DC, new OL coach etc

He started a bunch of games for them last season and this season.Watching BC's backup come in and have the day he ended up having was just adding insult to injury.
Trying to explain to a 16 year old why BC's backup is throwing passes all over the field while ours only throws passes sideways and otherwise lines up as a useless WR is every bit as challenging as you'd think it would be.
Johntay said hes coming back?...
He already has, pretty much everyone we need back is back .Fran will keep the core we need…
He has been disappointing. I expected more, he can still be solid, but based on his career thus far I doubt he lives up to the five star hype. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I just don't see a future first rounder. And Sarkisian would've pulled rank to keep him if he thought he was a true superstar. There is always a longer leash for true super stardom. Clearly we disagree, no point in arguing anymore, Ive voiced my opinion, and don't care to rehash every play. Only time will tell, I hope your right because we all win when Syracuse does. I just need to see a lot more to come to your opinion.Calling it a "lame appeal to authority" misses the point. I’m not saying debate isn’t allowed. It’s a sports board, of course people can disagree. What I am saying is that when a coach who’s put multiple WRs into the NFL over the years (don't forget USC and Alabama) both saw Cook as a starter‑caliber guy, that carries weight. That’s not shutting down debate or throwing crap against the wall. That's laying down facts and adding context.
And let’s not rewrite history. You’re the one who labeled him a massive disappointment. I’m pointing out that the resume doesn’t match that take.
He got into trouble at Texas and Washington, that’s why he wasn’t retained there. But since coming to Syracuse he’s stayed out of trouble and by all reports has been a great teammate. That matters.

Kyle covered up a lot of issues that lingeredAs bad as this season was, I almost feel like it’s good that it happened. They know what they need to compete and know what they need to change from a coaching standpoint and player standpoint. Sometimes getting some humble pie ends up being very rewarding and I think this will be the case next year and a few more to come. Some of the conversations I’ve had with the guys really close to football are really excited and that’s all I need to hear …
