Maryland would be the heavy favorite given that they lose their top fogo I think. Also they have a heavy contingent of Catamounts on the team given the coach Bernhardts connection.

Don't disagree but with Leo and Lyons in the fold I question how much NIL $$ they have left. If it comes down to $$ I think they could be outbid

i am hearing that colgate star attackman rory connor is transferring to georgetown. i have spoken...

Well his brother graduates, so moving on makes sense. Georgetown loses their top two leading scorers in Carroll and Bayman (the lead by a good amount too, Bayman has 62 points, the next leading scorer is Cannon with 36). So hitting the portal makes sense for them. That means Colgate loses their top three leading scorers for next year (combined 239 points).

Rory graduates. Liam is just a soph.

Thanks! My bad, not the first time I've been wrong about something these past few days ...

I figured the older brother was out of eligibility, so I assumed it was the younger. Still a good pickup for Georgetown.

Yes, I was very surprised when you joined some of us yesterday with the less than positive comments (before the last about 10 minutes). I don't think you were wrong. Based on what Hiltzy said in the post game presser, it was the players themselves, not the coaches, that made the difference. [I'm trying to moderate my comments today.]

He must be hoping for a med redshirt he's played all 4 years including 4 games in 2022.

No sweat PF...

They're both excellent, products of Manhasset I believe.

We need a replacement for Hiltz and some SSDMs the younger spallinas are struggling...

DMV noted that Cuse was looking to have Levine return (I assume he got a med redshirt at some point). I also suspect some of the younger guys who redshirted or barely played will get a long look at SSDM. There's a couple who really stand out as logical options.

Hmm, a poster on FanLax added some names to the list of portal entrants, and a number of UVA players were listed (Burke McFarland and Tucker Mullen). Thought it was interesting that the Colsey brothers weren't included on the list, given that there were some pretty strong rumors that they were going to enter/had entered.

Not many of the names caught my eye (I won't list them all, it's an easy list to find). A SSDM from UMBC looks like he could be a target of SU. Trey Fleece, (great name for an SSDM) - he had 42 grounders and 10 caused turnovers this year.

SU will definitely need another fogo since they'll have just Mullen and Angelo on the roster next year. Some names listed are -

Carter Kryszak, Mercer (51-83, 61%)
Chris Esposito, Stony Brook (69-119, 57%)
Jack Rogers, VMI (192-356, 54%)

SU isn't going to get a guy like Henry Doge, so they'll have to focus on a guy from a smaller school. The above names look promising in that regard, but it will be hard to find a guy willing to come in to be a backup.

SU's definitely gonna need another FOGO but hard to land a higher end guy when Mullen is sitting there with 2 more years of eligibility. A guy from a smaller school or a grad guy from D2 or D3 makes the most sense. Perhaps even a JUCO although hard to know what your getting there performance wise. In reality SU needs a better performance out of Angelo next year.

Have all offseason to discuss this (hopefully not for a while!), but what the heck.

If everyone expected to return does so, I think you have a very solid starting six (Spallina, Leo, Rhoa, Thomson, Anderson, Deere). The question is where do guys play, as by the looks of it you have four attackmen and two midfielders. The easy thing to do is slide Thomson back to midfield and play the two lefties in Anderson and Deere at attack with Spallina.

To me, I think they really need to bring in at least one more offensive transfer to give this team that extra boost. If Anderson moves to attack, that leaves a really underwhelming second midfield unit (sorry). SU needs difference makers on that second line. Perhaps freshmen like Bogue Hahn or Ted Rawson can boost things, but if you really want to capitalize on next years seniors, I think you have to bring in some outside help.

Hard to thread the needles since if you bring a transfer in, they're probably expecting to start, and that leaves a player like Anderson or Deere playing a reserve role again. You have two openings with English and Hiltz graduating, so no one is getting technically supplanted, but there might be some hurt feelings. Also, I would just feel better having more dodgers on the team.

If you stick with the above plan, you would "gain" Anderson as a dodger, but Thomson and Deere aren't guys who are going to take their guy to the rack. So you perhaps replace Hiltz with a projected better dodger in Anderson, but then you lose English as a dodger and replace him with Thomson who isn't going to draw a slide. And then Deere at attack also isn't going to be dodging a lot. That puts a lot of pressure on the four guys on the field who are good at dodging.

Just something to consider.

Would empty the bank account for Brad Sharp from Yale. The closest we could get to an English replacement without question

I suspect SU will be in the market for a mid transfer. Maybe they keep it like this year and are ultra selective but you can see the need for a ready to go mid transfer. Bogue Hahn may change that calculus but this staff has been hesitant to trust a true frosh.

I don't see attack being an addition spot. As it is there's going to be some tough choice to make if Finn isn't moved back to middie.

A lot will depend on what the staff thinks of the incoming frosh. Hahn and Rawson both have the ability to see time on the second mid line from Day 1 but the jump from HS to D1 is a big one especially at the highest level of D1. There's also the question of Filardi, does he stay at LSM or does SU experiment with him playing as a two way mid or an O mid as he did at times in high school.

I think it's clear a middie transfer would be a big help especially one proficient in dodging. Who that is and if SU can land them remains to be seen. I do expect Thomson to bump back to middie with Spallina, Bear and Deere on the 1st attack line. Again all of this assumes everyone returns which I think is a BIG assumption.

Does Ghobriel at Virginia have another year as a result of a medical redshirt? One name in the portal to keep an eye on as far as entering is Tyler Spano from Washington and Lee. Best FOGO in d3 and won ODAC offensive player of the year. Charlottesville native so I would assume they would be in his ear if Ghobriel was out of eligibility, but still could be a portal addition regardless.

I wouldn't sleep on Jameson Meyer, I think he could be our top freshman next season. I was joking about Dodge I know he's gonna go to a team with a major need of FO... that second line midfield needs to be redone, Hottle and McCarthy are turnover machines...

I think your referring to Jake Meyer from GA. Very intriguing recruit. Hard to see him getting a lot of PT next year barring injuries or other unexpected issues but the following year is wide open for him.
