2026 Transfer Thread

I'm wondering if we already have a plan on how we will handle the roster once House vs NCAA is approved. Seems schools like Maryland already know how they will navigate the new rules.

The roster cap is supposed to be 48. I thought I read that they will try and slowly roll it out over a couple of years. For instance, year one would be 52 players, year 2 would be 50 ... so on and so forth till they get to 48. Not sure if that is true or even possible. If one player who is cut because of it sues, feels like it won't hold up in court.

If Xtreme's roster for 2026 holds, Syracuse would have 46 guys on the roster. That's assuming Nate LeVine and Barrett White come back, neither is certain. So they would have some room to add guys if they want. When was the last time Syracuse had a lacrosse roster under 48 guys? It was in the 60s just a few years ago.

I looked at the rosters for the rest of the ACC, plus Michigan, Maryland, Hopkins and Georgetown. Everyone in the ACC is under 50 except for UNC who is at 53 players (they have a big recruiting class). Hopkins and Michigan are both at 51, so I'm curious if they cut guys or just assume the roster cap won't happen. We shall see.

will tominovich to michigan...i have spoken...

IL is catching ground on you.

How is Michigan going to score goals next year? They lose their top three leading scorers. Their highest returning scorer notched just 24 points. Tominovich has had injuries but is a good player. Interesting choice to spend a grad year.

They're pulling the Colgate Connors.

There is tommy bonnavita from army who is listed as Dmid. Not sure how much time he got n only sophomore. Decent size kinda believe he is 5”11 185lbs. Could maby be helpful for cuse.

Also don’t think we need to go for all super stars either. Can go for guys who have potential for any spot even if our coaches have to work with them little bit. Yes much easier to grab guys who already top of line. But may be able to pull kids without a lot of other pressure if know or can see the potential in them. Also think we need guys with speed n athletic with good size. Don’t need be huge but least solid.

Bonnavita played in 1 game against Bucknell, had 1 assist and contributed no other statistics

Im actually really suprised I havent heard much about Josh Yago, he was the ASUN OPOY, First Team all ASUN Unanimous, All American Honorable Mention, 72 Points ( 37 Goals 35 Assists) Single Season Points and Assists leader at Air Force. Not really relevant to Syracuse, but surprised no one has talked about him essentially anywhere considering how good he was, albeit at the ASUN level.

heard he has interest from 5 B1G teams, 2 ACCs, and Denver...

I’ll guess all the BIg 10 teams outside of Maryland are after him. Who knows maybe the Terps are too, every time you think they couldn’t add anyone else they do!

Only 2 ACCs are interesting. I would guess Duke and Notre Dame. Syracuse should probably be involved as well, but they seem they least in need so I’ll leave them out.

Yago and Brad Sharp are really the only prominent offensive players in the portal right now.

There is dmid from army in portal not sure how much time he saw or anything but i’d assume he has to be somewhat athletic if was at army. Know he has good size nothing great think 6”0 n 185 n he’s only sophomore. Tommy bonnavita believe his name is. Maby possible potential build player to help.

Freshman in 2024, didn’t play, not on the team in 2025. Where did you see he was in the portal? From the DC area (Gonzaga).

IL does a little something different this offseason. A ranking of the players who entered the transfer portal. Bowen is listed as an honorable mention. They ranked the first 25 and gave them writeups. Liam Conner, Lyons, Johnson and Dodge made up the top three (all committed).

Ranked players who haven't committed yet are:

25. Cam Hitchcock, D, Gr., Dartmouth
24. Rory Graham, A/M, Gr., Cornell
22. Matthew Skibniewski, D, Gr., Lafayette
21. Logan Soelberg, M, Gr., Yale
18. Brenden Kelly, A/M, Gr., Boston U
16. Kade Goldberg, M, Gr., Georgetown
15. Quinn Fitzsimmons, D, Gr., Colgate
10. Logan Darrin, D, Gr., Harvard
9. Mason Oak, G, Gr., Quinnipiac
8. Brad Sharp, M, Gr., Yale
5. Josh Yago, A, Gr., Air Force
4. Henry Dodge, FO, Sr., Vermont

Feels like SU should be targeting Sharp, Yago and maybe Goldberg on offense. It sounds like maybe they are not in for Yago? On defense I am curious if they would make a play for any of the long poles. None scream sure thing, and you've got some talented recruits that have been sitting on the bench, waiting their turn.

There are five FOGOs listed as honorable mention, so hopefully 'Cuse can grab one of them to back up Mullen next season.

Ohio State was probably pretty desperate for offensive help given all their losses to graduation. Still, a bummer.
