I'm wondering if we already have a plan on how we will handle the roster once House vs NCAA is approved. Seems schools like Maryland already know how they will navigate the new rules.
The roster cap is supposed to be 48. I thought I read that they will try and slowly roll it out over a couple of years. For instance, year one would be 52 players, year 2 would be 50 ... so on and so forth till they get to 48. Not sure if that is true or even possible. If one player who is cut because of it sues, feels like it won't hold up in court.
If Xtreme's roster for 2026 holds, Syracuse would have 46 guys on the roster. That's assuming Nate LeVine and Barrett White come back, neither is certain. So they would have some room to add guys if they want. When was the last time Syracuse had a lacrosse roster under 48 guys? It was in the 60s just a few years ago.
I looked at the rosters for the rest of the ACC, plus Michigan, Maryland, Hopkins and Georgetown. Everyone in the ACC is under 50 except for UNC who is at 53 players (they have a big recruiting class). Hopkins and Michigan are both at 51, so I'm curious if they cut guys or just assume the roster cap won't happen. We shall see.
