2027 Recruiting

Took a look at the IL rankings for the 3 classes preceeding this year for Cuse and some other top ranked programs (and also Rutgers). Recognizing that there have been transfers and redshirts and that IL rankings are by no means correlated to player or team success, but still an interesting look at what players in this class are signing up to compete against. Numbers in parentheses are the star ranking, number before is amount of players across all three preceeding classes that were ranked at that level.

no one does less with more than the dukies.

As previously noted, Cuse has a lot of ground to cover at FO and at attack (although Anderson is listed at M and Peck's switch from 5* to 4* muddies the picture there a bit. They're also a bit thin at LSM over the next few years. A couple other teams will likely be pushing hard for Sobel or other top goalies in this class (Duke, ND, PSU with UNC grabbing one already), but MD is always lurking. They really need strong backup plans if Sobel and Woods (at attack) sign elsewhere.

Kids will always sign with Duke, UVA, and UNC because of the location, academics, and social life but man, those really aren't the places to be if you're hoping to avoid the bench for the first few years, especially on offense. Of course, the top kids are probably not thinking that way - everyone thinks they can compete and get on the field. Some will. Corrigan does such a good job staggering his top recruits over the different classes at ND. There's a logjam at attack for Duke & UVA and at middie for UNC.

Most teams feel relatively thin at defense. MD in particular has been a little light at the position the last few classes. Penn will have only 3 defenders rostered when this class moves in (not factoring in potential transfers).

Cuse clearly being out-recruited by a number of teams here, and not just in the ACC/B10.

Hoping they find a couple mean defensemen like Chuck K (SSDMs too). Not many five stars gone yet so not worried about getting out recruited yet. O guys idolize Gait, and coach O has been able to attract top D talent so far (he’s our Fran Brown)

Yeah, plenty of talented players out there to recruit for this year. Could be a huge year for Cuse and it really does need to be to keep pace with what's happened the last few years in the ACC. Need to build off the re-emerging success of the program while they can.

Again, ratings are not the be-all-end-all to determine a team's success. But looking at some of these teams the last three years . . .

#5 stars
12: Duke
10: ND, UVA
8: UNC
4: MD
3: Army, Harvard, Princeton, Syracuse
2: Georgetown, OSU
1: Cornell, JHU, Penn, Yale

Bryce Feldmaier (the guy who posts the commitment graphics) teasing a big day today. Saying there will be multiple top 75 players announcing. I imagine Harvard will be getting one - he alluded early yesterday to another big name being released for them last night that hasn't come yet. No hints as to what other teams are in the mix.

Can you tell me which one of his accounts I’m supposed to follow? I can’t seem to find the post your referencing above. I might just be old.

There's a link to his channel in his bio, which you'll need to also follow because that's where he posts what's coming (this is my first time in an Instagram channel, so I also feel old 😆)

Thanks! I didn’t even know what an instagram channel was, so I got you beat there. The game has certainly changed.
