2027 Recruiting

I really just do not get the recruiting pitch for UNC, or Duke for that matter, in terms of competitiveness and playing time. You can talk about academics and location until the cows come home, but they are not unique in that regard. There's a plethora of other programs where you can get that but also get playing time. Makes me think it ends up being a self fulfilling prophecy for those teams falling short since you're getting players that don't want to compete right away and are fine with not playing. No wonder you're not ready for prime time when your number gets called. Hey if it's what they want it's what they want, but UNC and Duke lost in the first round for a reason.

part of location is the student body. and carolina is unique in lacrosse when that's thrown in as well.

duke is an elite academic institution that's been to 4 of the last 7 final fours...the recruiting pitch isn't that complicated

unc annually underperforms their talent but it's considered a dream school and perfect college environment for many upper middle class white kids...academics, parties, girls, campus, weather, college town, sports...it's got everything...lot of kids grow up idolizing the unc experience. and they play plenty of freshman...whether breschi gets the most out of them is another question but he does give them opportunities early...

UNC landed another top 100 guy this morning. They gotta have 10 kids committed already?!

Not trying to get critical yet, taking a wait and see approach. This is a very critical cycle for Gait and the staff. They need to start getting some verbals, and quality ones too.

Hoping they land both Sobel and Woods and a start.

UNC has seven recruits committed so far, which does seem like a lot. One five star, five four stars and one three star. I don't know all the ins and outs of how recruiting works, but I do think they got a head start by being the only school with a football team that had a home football game on September 1st. Every other school that relies on those sorts of events had to wait until this past weekend (including Syracuse).

Honestly I am viewing it as a good thing that they did not round up a bunch of 5 stars in the early going. Less room for them to add several 5 stars later on if they already have 7 in the class.
 
Cuse drops another post aimed at recruits, must be working on some big fish the next 1-2 weeks with home football games. If we don’t have a few higher end guy by Oct then I’ll worry!

Agreed, seems like they're not in the running for as many of the big ticket guys if they've filled out this many spots already. Duke and UVA only having 1-2 recruits each at this point tells me that they're in on a lot of top guys and are waiting on those dominos to fall before allocating most of their spots.

Yeah, thats my thought as well, he strikes me as the kind to take a while to decide because he is so highly touted and unlike Cross and Holbourough I haven't really heard anything about where he's leaning.

Ok who is this dude?? A whole other level of recruiting fanatic if he knows the time when guys plan to commit lol. I’ll take it I guess but man, the guy has to save some crazy for the rest of us die hards!

He does the graphics for most of the commits - so they work with him to time their announcements and post them (is what I've been led to believe). Hence his advance notice.

Feel like the kids would not necessarily love their graphic guy leaking that info...but we will take it!
