And counting. Factor in the two scout teams that we've played and that's 3 BLOWOUTS against the past 5 BCS programs. Did Marrone have 3 in 4 seasons?!?! I hate players coaches.

I'm not giving up on shafer yet. But this is starting to look historically bad. couchburn

Marrone never had even one game like we had yesterday - at least I can't recall one.

I think the worst loss was to Pitt in 2010 45-14 (from a pt differential view). About half as bad as today. The team never looked totally unprepared under Marrone, which I think is your point.

Yes.

That Pitt game was tough but nothing like what we've seen this year. I don't recall halftime scores of 28-0 or 34-7.

These are Robinson-like games.

Just shows the lack of leadership with the coaching staff. The talent while not great isn't awful and should look better than this.

I think yesterday was the game that turned even Shafers most ardent defenders. We were all willing to concede new coaching staff, loss of alot of good players etc in the blowout losses to two ranked and clearly more talented teams in Northwestern and Clemson. We weren't happy about it and they were still awful noncompetitive losses but people have the staff a mulligan.

You CANNOT give them a mulligan for what happened yesterday. That was one of the worst losses including the GROB years. 56-0 to a team that is no more talented than we are!? Are you serious!? We inexplicably switch to a 3-4 defense when we ran a 4-3 all year and had a top ranked run defense against a team that always runs!? Straight up Mickey Mouse right now. If we don't make a bowl Shafer needs to get rid of everyone except McDonald (bc he has nothing to work with on offense and we need his recruits). If Shafer doesn't do that than Shafer should go. This season has been an so far. We don't even look like a D-1 football team and I thought we were past those days.

Reminds me of the final years of the Coach P era. This is really disappointing and a big step backward from Marrone's tenure.

Here we go from the genius who insisted that Marrone be fired.
In fairness, he didn't play this schedule either.

It's true that he did not play Clemson, but he did play some very tough teams including the Brian Kelly Cincy teams, Penn State, WVU and the J. Pierre Paul/George Selvie So. Florida teams.

He played teams comparable to Ga Tech.

I'm not calling for SS to be fired or accusing Dr. Gross of having made a bad selection.

God help me if I become another Stern. As a matter of fact, ban me from the board if that happens.

I think, instead, that perhaps the coaching staff has out smarted itself a bit - at least I hope that's the problem.

But we also can't risk another GRob. We just can't. I get it sounds crazy to turn on a coach so quickly but after GRob I think it has some merit. Shafer hasn't done much to make anyone think he's capable...yet.

You mean the final year when we won six regular season games, beat BC to win a share of the BE Championship and went to the Champs Bowl?

At this point I think I would take six wins and a bowl season.

i said it before and ill say it again-

marrone had schafer- schafer has no one

for 4 years we heard about how we now have better athletes- now this season its because marrone left the cupboard empty -

what i see is a guy over thinking-enough so it will cost some there jobs- this 3-4 4-3 switch says way too much about hcss mind set- he is coaching scared

I don' t think even Grob had 3 blowouts in his 1st 7 games.
At least Grob's teams usually waited until the third quarter to go completely off the rails. These three blowouts were hideous from the start.

Many coaches have trouble trying to figure out how to play the triple option. Few seem to figure it out the first time. That said, rather than go with schemes that have had some success, we seen to have decided that we had a unique answer. I think that qualifies as over-thinking and out-smarting ourselves.

I would love to hear the rationale in using that scheme.

Even if we get to 6 wins this year, bowls won't like 4 no-hope, blowouts (I'm counting FSU as a blowout).

Are you saying that we wouldn't make a bowl if we got to 6 wins? These days, everybody makes a bowl for 6 wins. The ACC has like 8 bowl tie-ins. We get to 6, we're bowling somewhere. Whether that happens or not, thats certainly up for debate given what we've seen thus far.
