Ok. So here is my argument for him versus Hunt. Hunt has bad throwing mechanics and throws a poor ball. He also only has one year left.

He has good vision and is a big guy that can take a hit.

AJ has three more years left. Throws a better ball. Can run the option. Can throw to a back shoulder.

He's smaller, so you may have to move the pocket more and he's not going to rip off a 70 yard throw, but he can make most of the throws needed.

Neither are Donovan McNabb. I'd rather invest in AJ for the long haul.
I dont know what you guys see. AJ Long is not as accurate as you think. So what he throws rainbow fades that are catchable. Other than that, I dont see it. Hunt is just as accurate, stronger arm, stronger head, stronger runner.

Paging Braxton Miller...Newhouse has accepted your grad school application. Classes start in Mid-January.
Hold the train! JT Barrett carted off the field today...

I don't see it either. He also gets tossed around like the defenses little brother and has to improve his whole body strength. Not nearly elusive enough to compensate for his size. He's young and there's hope but for once I'd like to see a qb on this team show us something to think he has a good future and can make plays.

Also, is it just me, or does AJ really and truly look like a 8th grader out on the field? In those full house sets he was literally dwarfed by McFarlane...

Long was great against florida state who didn't gameplan for him other than that has been very up and down

Yep, take away that game, and he has been very very bad. Like you said FSU didn't game plan for him. They just sat back and played a very vanilla defense. Hardly any blitzes, just straight man to man. He has been thoroughly exposed since. Right now we don't have a quarterback. As much as everyone hates Hunt he is clearly the best of the bunch. I'd bring in 4 new quarterbacks this class because right now we have none.

The coaches agreed with you, until Hunt went down. He was 3rd string, prime red shirt candidate.

Hunt goes down, changes everything.

To be accurate he was 2nd string, but was listed as 4th because he was going to redshirt. As soon as Hunt went down he was next in line.

I'd go all in, but we'd probably have to beat out Oregon. I have a feeling Braxton will want to play big boy football. I couldn't imagine him going from playing in front of 109k in the Shoe, to the Dome.

If you take Hunt's running ability, Wilson's passing and Long's attitude (all their strengths) you would still come up with a mediocre D1 talented QB in my opinion.

I agree with this. I dont ever see Wilson, Kimble ever being able to lead us. AJ will improve but he is not a ACC caliber QB. Our next best QB's are not on campus yet

I would guess that at least 1 or 2 of these guys transfer like Kinder did.

In his defense though, the receivers were among the worst in the ACC and possibly the whole P5.

Wilson would seem to me to be most likely to transfer

they were. Flemming should not of been starting at all. He was at best our 4th best outside wr. Ish,West and Lewis should of been playing the majority on the outside

Whether he throws to the front shoulder or back shoulder of the linebacker doesn't make much difference.

Hunt is the QB next year. How many times have you seen an injured QB spend the rest of the season up in the coaches box?
did he travel to away games?

Not saying he won't be. But he wouldn't be my choice.

I don't think AJ Long is becoming an AA overnight. I just don't think Hunt is decidedly better to the point of having him start over AJ.

Again, just my opinion. But it seems to me that for the best interest of the program the package of abilities that AJ has versus his limitations, he seems like the best bet.

To be perfectly honest, unless we stay healthy and fix the OL, it won't matter who is back there.

BTW, I'm just using Bees' post because of where it was in the sequence of this thread and not assuming he doesn't agree (or disagree) with me at all.

Need to play the best dual-threat QB on the roster. BC's offense didn't have an advantage in terms of talent, but because the defense had to pay attention to Murphy running, it opened up other plays.

It makes you wonder if Broyld might be the best option at this point since SU can easily replace him at WR.

Hunt struggled early on no doubt. But he started slow last year and got better. He would have figured things out. Offense was pitiful with all the other QB's.

I hope youre right Money. There are very few if any positives coming out of this years offense. I was a huge Hunt supporter at the beginning of the year, but man he was downright awful at times. Maybe it was the scheme who knows.

He did today. They showed him in the box.
