A New Tradition

This is just it. You're trying to be a victim, and you're trying to stamp out my opinion because it disagrees with yours, while claiming that I'm oppressing you because I dared be honest with how I felt.

I'm sorry, but this forum doesn't scare me.
I am in no way trying to be a victim, and I am not trying to stamp out your opinion. I really don’t care much either way how you feel about it. I liked the idea. You don’t like the kilt idea. Fine. I’ve asked at least twice for you to give me a suggestion of your own, and you haven’t or won’t. What bothers me some is that It seems to me you’d rather criticize others, frame it as your opinion, and then call everyone else out for simultaneously being too sensitive and snowflake but stamping out your views and oppressing you. You’re hiding behind a contradiction.
Stop posting like a clown. You’re an embarrassment to Syracuse University. Just stating my opinion. Don’t oppress me.
Seems a bit more than just an opinion on a proposed new tradition, doesn’t it? It makes me sad and regretful that I tried to have fun with fellow Syracuse fans and propose a half baked thought for a new tradition. Nobody here should scare you and you should strive to do the same, and respect others. As for your assertion that recruits from certain parts of the country won’t like kilts, I’m not sure what you’re referring to, but here are images of people from all walks of life in a kilt.

I’m trying to say dudes look weird in skirts. That’s why very few guys wear skirts in public on a regular basis.
The only thing more embarrassing than your obvious homophobia is when cheerleaders tell fans to say LETS GO ORANGE during timeouts. That enrages me.

I didn't say anything about the article. I just said that a better tradition would be dressing normally.

Ah yes. "We have this great tradition where we dress normally." Fun!

"And before a big game we have another tradition: we eat a typical amount of a standard meal."

Here's the thing, no person in this country would see a guy in a kilt and think it reflects poorly on the program. You could be the dumbest, most homophobic hick alive and you would never get to that level of stupidity because it's somewhere below "braindead." So we don't have to worry about this. The fact that you've spilled so many words about a complete non-concern is mind-boggling.

I can only suggest you stay far far away from any and all competitive sports. They are filled with meaningless, and trivial traditions, rituals, superstitions, inside jokes, harmless hazing, and other stuff like this. It's part of the fun of being on a team, but it doesn't seem like your style.

You know what you might like? That electric football game where you plug in the board and it vibrates and the little plastic players move along the field. That seems more your speed. All business. No players with long dreadlocks. Nobody showing off by executing complicated handshakes. And no sissy skirts! Just two teams of solid young men dedicated to a tradition of winning.

Living in NYC I am no stranger to males wearing skirts. I also issue the following advice: If you ever see a man wearing a kilt and refer to it as a skirt you had better have a well thought out exit strategy.

Also, we are Syracuse and I see a T-shirt opportunity:

"Real Men Wear Kilts"

Dude. You missed construction workers wearing utility kilts... ;-) I've seen that a few times. Guess they hold more than your standard tool belt. Minus being out in the breeze, in a potentially dangerous environment, that one almost makes good sense. ;-)

Hahaha... He doesn't like kilts. If he was a gay dude that didn't like kilts, now what? Guarantee people from all walks of life think a kilt is silly. It's OK to not like kilts. You're all jumping to conclusions.

LOL - Insulting people’s heritage is a little dramatic, don’t you think? Am I also not allowed to say haggis is gross, and Guinness is overrated?

You’re making it sound like I’m burning Scottish flags while singing “Long Live the Queen” and decorating my toilet with pictures of William Wallace and broken Braveheart VHS tapes.

Guinness is Irish, clown.

I can't believe I made it through five pages of this. Since I did, I might as well go all in with a post.

I could care less what nzm is saying. The fact that he won't let it go and instead, chooses to fan the flames, is more telling about him. That's sad. Okay, carry on...

Yeah, this thread is the Rutgers Dumpster Fire of threads here right now.
(sans the humor and schadenfreude)

We're all dumber for having read it.

Dude can wear whatever he wants. Orange thong? Go for it.
But why should the clothing choice of some random assistant assistant coach be a "tradition" for us?

Clemson is purple and orange because the blue from the HC’s day’s as a player and assistant with Auburn was faded by the southern sun. For that matter, look at the origin of Howard’s Rock

The rock was brought to football coach Frank Howard in the early 1960s as a gift from Samuel C. Jones. Jones found the rock while driving through Death Valley, California and gave it to Howard as a reference to "Death Valley," the name Howard used to refer to Memorial Stadium.[2] The coach used the rock as a doorstop until 1966. He was cleaning out his office when he told Gene Willimon, a Clemson booster, "Take this rock and throw it over the fence or out in the ditch...Do something with it, but get it out of my office." It was Willimon who had the rock placed on a pedestal in the east end zone, where it remains today.[3]

These things all start somewhere!

I had a dream where Syracuse won, is bowl eligible before Halloween, got ranked and I was in debate about whether or not kilt wearing should ever be worn????

No way.

Mustve been a nightmare because it was news to me that one should not wear a kilt into an interview (really???!!! Oh shlit) and if people don’t wear them in the geographical areas Cuse is either is or should be recruiting in (is there really a region that does) then we shouldn’t have some 20nothing gym coach, who likely relates best to the students, wear one just because the HC knows it might provide levitity and fun and to a rough sport.

Phew, I mean wow...damn, I figured I must’ve really hit it hard yesterday,

Pretty sure I did, I mean it was worth it...

But then I read all my alerts here and realized...

This week we honor the victims of PanAm103 with folks from Scotland...wearing kilts and playing bagpipes.

I’ll tell you what, if you, him, or anyone else wants to walk through south Chicago to my apt to kick my butt, I won’t even be mad. In fact, I’ll buy you a beer. Until then, the internet threats are lame.

I hope your wedding went well.
Choosing to live in South Chicago is more dumb than wearing a kilt.

He said dudes shouldn't wear skirts. End of story.

I think its awesome.

Am I wrong for secretly hoping that when Coach Chirco moves up in the coaching world and gets a better job on another staff we hire Charlie Weis or Mark Mangino and demand they wear a kilt? That would be cool af.

It would also be cool to see nzm and one of his buddies fight Coach Chirco for charity or something (and lose badly.)

I love it. Especially, because Chirico is fully embracing it, instead of being embarrassed(like many people might be). I saw that kilt on the sideline, Saturday. Because of this thread, I cracked a big ole smile. ;-)
