Sankey has been good for the SEC. No so much for the ACC, but he is the SEC commissioner, not the ACC commissioner.
Now a writer wants him gone because the B1G will throw a hissy fit if the SEC gets 5 teams in the playoffs. While I agree, the B1G will likely throw a hissy fit, but Alabama has provided fodder for the argument. One, they have two losses. So what, but really, it's about performance, Bama failed to perform twice and questionable in other games. Two, their run game is suspect. So what? They are having an off year but deserve a playoff spot because of the Saban years? Really, like March Madness, the the last few teams in will have obvious flaws that can and should be debated. Besides, Bama has two more games to right their football ship.
To fire Sankey because the writer cannot get what he wants seems a bit over the top. As notes by others, Sankey works in conjunction with the schools, he does not act independently. I think Alabama gets in as long as they win. If they lose again, do they deserve a playoff spot?
