and you keep supporting Adam in one post and not in another.

I can appreciate what he’s done for Su and the athletes while at the same time be critical about how this went down and why. I don’t need to be a hysterical high school kid.

lets for a second go with the narrative out there right now, I assume put forth by adam, and assume it's true.

If you tried to have a face to face with them and they don't return your calls, emails etc. and basically show you the door with the message we don't want YOU around, what would any of us do?
Ah. Thats info I didn't know. Yes, if that is true, I can easily see even a big fan become disenchanted. Hopefully if there is a rift, it can be mended some day.

He won't get the publicity from helping Binghamton.
If he signs a top player there, it’ll garner a national headline of “look at how NIL is helping the little guys” and then everyone will move on

That's a very rational way to look at it. Here's my more pointed take:

The relationship with AW was always going to end badly. Always.

For whatever checks he actually signs and pays out for SU, he deserves thanks.

However, this divorce was not only inevitable, but is very much for the best.

Syracuse has some incredibly wealthy alum….we need to get those peeps on board if they aren’t already….Muir, and Torico quickly come to mind. We also need a deal with the Oneida Indian Nation….that casino money would go along ways.

It's a pet peeve. It had nothing to do with his point. Spell the city's name right, is all I said.

For the record, they do actually do quite well with attendance. Not 10K but that's not what the school is and what the league they're in is.

They also have a baseball complex that would make SEC schools blush.

Yeah baseball program is strong. The Bing field house is a nice place to catch a game... 3k capacity or something like that. Haven't been to many games since pandemic but crowds are ok. It's a growing campus that has improved with good location being in Vestal on 434.

Not much AW is going to do boosting them but he can help likely a lot more than here given the goals of that program are very modest.

Everything that has come out the past few days I would say brings AW down to earth in terms of his impacts as a booster. It looks like less of a loss with each passing day. While I would prefer having as many deep pocket guys as possible- if he really cares and wants to help he can do so silently. I fully believe in that his aim and efforts were consistent with working within compliance to the best ability that is possible given NIL rules are still poorly defined by the NCAA.

With that said we live in a sports world that's still not Fairplay when it comes to administering rules. Thus his social media blast strategy for everything he does - was always likely to attract the wrong kind of attention at some point and offers the NCAA the same kind of low hanging fruit we gave them when we openly reported violations. In many ways losing him is as much an NCAA issue as it is anything. If they had their crap together and provided clearer rules followed by precedent in interpretation of these rules this whole thing probably never happens.

It seemed a hard pill to swallow when rumors swirled then it coming to a head publicly. The more that has come out though- this isn't a program sinking issue on its own... not at all. If the relationship can be fixed over time behind the scenes and he can buy into to being involved through the collective(s) it would be great. He seems to be able to pivot on things pretty quickly for better or worse.. cant see why it can't happen again after things settle.

That is fair. I don't know Adam but have shared a couple of meals with him in Skaneateles. He went out of his way to help one of my relatives and has always been very nice to me and my family. I obviously have no idea what went down between him and the administration but regardless it is a shame that he is no longer supporting Syracuse athletics.

Correct. No one does any more about the military. But his point was that he’s too busy to invest 3-4 hours watching a sport. If it’s close, he’ll watch 1/4 of it.

But the NBA ain’t changed for the better - my criticism are players loafing 75% of the season, sitting for nearly 20 games for maintenance, and then coming alive during the playoffs. The all star game is just a slightly amplified version of many games.
None of that is true about todays NBA but whatever

Muir isn't an alum and Mike Tirico isn't THAT wealthy. We need to get the unknown wealthy Syracuse alums that don't want to be known.

Those are the folks that lift boats. not a guy on ESPN. He's good for public PR which is worth something but the check writing, leave that to financial services and masters of industry types. Which as i've said alot upthread will come from a healthy university creating wealthy alum

Thomas Tull is claimed by many to be the anonymous donor for BU’s $60 million dollar baseball facility. Not sure what this guys net worth is but he is part owner of the Steelers. So it may be that BU athletics already has their sugar daddy.

An experience with Mohawk Airlines caused my Dad to stop flying. He would literally take a train to Texas rather than step on a plane again.

Can you enlighten me why this is not a crisis?

Just don't want to dig through a 33 page thread.

All I know is things went sour with Sveryud & Weitsman, and Weitsman made the declaration.

...

- Wildhack - if he sees what's unfolding publicly, with a self-promoting NIL guy coming out and pulling support, and with former student-athletes (Zaire Franklin, being one) coming out and admonishing SU for lack of understanding... whether Franklin is right or wrong, the public opinion is SU's chancellor kicked a big fan and donor to the curb. Despite what this fan forum says, that's what most see on Twitter and that's what people believe. Wildhack needs to do something to change the narrative.

This is a small example of why social media culture is the worst.

Zaire was (and I imagine is) a total standup guy and great SU representative. On what planet is it appropriate to put that kind of knee-jerk sentiment out there? E-mail Wildhack, ask a question, express a concern. Airing grievances that way is so counterproductive. Unfortunate that that's so many people's SOP these days, even the good actors.

My first plane trip was a Mohawk BAC111 to NYC.

Torico is making over $10 million annually but I get your point. Sorry about Muir….I messed that up….he went to OCS and IC.

For everyone mad at Kent….you could hold a peaceful protest outside his office to make a point. That might be more productive that complaining on a message board.
