Adrian Autry to Take Helm of Men's Basketball as Jim Boeheim's Storied Career Comes to End

Red needs to hit the ground running.
1.) Make sure that if Judah returns to college, it is at Syracuse
2.) Play man to man
3.) Dinner with Weitsman
4.) Convince Jesse to return
5.) Hit the portal
6.) Get Taylor, Bell, Benny, Brown and Quadir to return
7.) Hire a bench coach. Washington lost today . . .
8.) Visit Elijah Moore

Ready for Cuse nation to get behind our new coach.

Would Hop really come back to be an assistant? I don't know if he has other options. Just seems weird.

His head coach resume isn’t necessarily going to get him another HC job at the moment. Maybe he becomes an NBA scout. Maybe he gets an assistant job on the west coast. I don’t know. But if Red hired him, I would be pleased.

Re: hiring a bench coach -- howzabout mixing it up a bit, and not having "played at SU before" be an evaluative criteria?

Time to shake things up a bit, and not fall into the same patterns as before.

Not psyched about the hire, but hoping he smashes it out of the park. Does Red now bring in his son as his first recruit as HC?

Here is the problem... if you are going to do a national search you need time. To get time you have to get an agreement with the current coach that this year is indeed his last year. Apparently going into the season this was not JB's last year. Once the tides turned against JB... again you can't run a national search a) in season and b) without telling JB.

So option 1 would be to start the national search now and effectively punting on next season or option 2 roll with what you know and go w. Red and pray that he can turn it around next season.

Not that anyone cares, but I am firmly in the camp that a national search would not have any higher probability of getting a great coach than the probability of Red being a great coach... see Shaka Smart as a very recent example of this. Hiring is 80% luck and 20% science. And again the AD knows Autry in and out and I'm sure has "interviewed" him multiple times.
Great post, very logical, etc.

If there is even a possibility that Judah would return, Red has to lock him down. That's a world of difference for the start of next season. He would be a pre-season all american watchlist guy.

Will be interesting in the coaching roster.

All the luck to Red now, but it's go time.

Maybe a guy who can install a more modern offense and can recruit.
